Role: Assists members and potential members with their financial needs, opens new accounts, processes account transactions, resolves problems, and provides assistance and information regarding products and services.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Assists members with opening and closing accounts, opens a teller drawer daily, answers questions about products and services and resolves problems that are within their authority to resolve. Refers problems that are beyond their authority to their supervisor, along with their recommendations.

  • Performs all consumer loan functions including selling services, quoting rates, utilizing the lending software and closing loans.

  • Ensures appropriate records are maintained and required reports are prepared.

  • Identifies cross-selling opportunities and cross-sells services to members.

  • Conducts audits of system information and member documents.

  • Acts as liaison between members and various departments.

  • May visit existing and prospective Business Partners to develop new business and to retain or expand existing business.

  • May represent the credit union in various civic functions to enhance image and develop additional business.

  • May train other employees in daily responsibilities.

  • Stays current on new/existing processes/products and relays to branch as appropriate.

  • Responsible for rotating branch duties.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

  • Maintain a Quality Loop score that meets our corporate expectations.

  • Provide informed, prompt, accurate service and support to all members and employees.

  • Open all accounts, certificates, loans and other credit union products or services accurately, ensuring all related forms and documents are completed and filed/scanned in a timely manner. Open teller drawer daily.

  • Actively cross-sell products and services to members to achieve or exceed all established goals and assist in meeting branch goals.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable credit union policies and procedures.

Knowledge & Skills:

Experience

  • 2 years' experience as Branch Specialist or similar experience; minimum lending authority $5,000 unsecured and $25,000 secured.

Education

  • A high school education or GED.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Other Skills

  • Must be able to utilize various computer programs to obtain and enter information. Must demonstrate strong public contact and communication skills. Must demonstrate good judgement in order to resolve member issues and to offer other services. Must be current on all policies and procedures related to teller, new account, and be fully versed on all services offered by the credit union. Must demonstrate proficiency with all lending functions. Must be adept in handling share certificates and IRA accounts. Must be able to change job function as member traffic dictates to meet member needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Light lifting required. Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time as member traffic dictates.
