A Senior Audio-Visual Systems Programmer is a professional responsible for designing, configuring, and programming complex audiovisual systems in various settings such as corporate offices, educational institutions, entertainment venues, or government facilities. Their primary role is to ensure that audiovisual equipment and systems work seamlessly to meet the specific needs and requirements of the organization.
Responsibilities
Principal responsibilities and duties include the following. This list is not all-inclusive, individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to cover absences or relief to balance workloads.
Create functional control systems based on design documents generated by the engineering team
Create user friendly graphical user interfaces (GUI), tying in client specific branding to create a pleasing custom aesthetic that is both functional and intuitive
Coordinate with project managers and the design team to ensure system operation and intent
Meet key deadlines set by the project schedule to ensure timely completion
Maintain and update source code for assigned projects
Troubleshoot AV system issues and control system debugging
Generate a system user guide document upon substantial completion of the project
Attend project specific meetings to coordinate deliverables and integration
Collaborate with the programming team to develop new processes, code improvements, and GUI elements
Provide the Pre-Sales team feedback on level of effort for estimation and quoting
Skills/Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Broad knowledge of AV control system standards and best practices
Proficiency with Crestron SIMPL, SIMPL+, and VTPro-E is a must. SIMPL# is preferred but not required
Experience in AMX and Extron Programming is preferred
Thorough understanding of AV signal flow and gain structure
Experience in CSS, HTML5, and Python (preferred)
On-Site troubleshooting experience
Knowledge of AV over IP technology and networking fundamentals
Advanced computer skills as required for configuration and troubleshooting of equipment
Ability to work and think independently and ensuring to meet deadlines
Communication, collaboration, and positive mindset in a team-based environment
Education: HS Diploma, Community College or Technical School Graduate (or work experience equivalent)
Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming or similar (preferred)
Years of Experience: 5+ years of AV control system programming in a similar role.
Security Clearance: US Citizenship. Ability to obtain a Public Trust or DOD clearance is a plus, but not required.
CERTIFICATIONS
Certified Crestron Programmer
Certified AMX Programmer (preferred)
OEM Vendor certifications (Extron, Biamp, Qsys, etc.)
AVIXA CTS/CTS-I/CTS-D (preferred)
Cisco CCNA or equivalent certification (preferred)
