What you will do

Ferroglobe has an immediate opening for an IT Systems Administrator. You will maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware.

  • Maintaining IT operations such as applications, hardware, software, and network security tools.

  • Troubleshooting issues with an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and other network segments

  • Training staff in using software and hardware • Collaborating with network architects to build and maintain servers and optimize network performance

  • Planning and executing hardware and software upgrades

  • Configuring and maintaining the networked computer system, including hardware, system software, and applications.

  • Ensuring data is stored securely and backed up regularly.

  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, networking, and system issues when they arise.

  • Replacing and upgrading defective or outdated components when necessary.

  • Providing technical support when requested.

  • Documenting any processes which employees need to follow in order to successfully work within our computing system.

  • Installs, configures, tests, and maintains servers, NAS, and related networking equipment.

  • Monitors scheduled jobs and computer output for completeness, accuracy, and errors.

  • Performs all critical data backups and secures data according to established procedures.

  • Installs firmware and security updates on servers, printers, and related networking equipment.

  • Support configures and maintains Microsoft Active Directory.

  • Maintains Unified Communications, VoIP, and any related equipment, services, and platforms.

  • Logs all computer, terminal, and printer hardware/software problems. Calls appropriate maintenance organizations and arranges for repair. Notifies supervisor of unusual problems.

  • Assists with software upgrades and installations.

What we seek:

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems or related IT specialization.

  • Requires at least 3 years of similar or related experience.

  • Experience and professional certification may be substituted for degree requirement.

What we like:

  • Requires an advanced proficiency in the operation of local and wide-area networks and components. Must be proficient with current Microsoft Server and Client operating systems.

  • Must be able to perform duties accurately and independently. Must be able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Must be able to work with members and associates in person or over the phone, in a courteous, pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.

  • Discretion, accuracy, and clarity in communication are essential. A high degree of professionalism in regard to safeguarding sensitive data is also a requirement.

  • Relevant degree or diploma in Information systems or information technology.

  • Microsoft MCSE certification or similar.

  • Experience administering server-side technology and networked computing systems.

  • Familiarity with SQL and database operations.

  • Ability to prioritize a wide range of workloads with critical deadlines.

  • Availability outside of working hours to resolve emergency issues promptly.

  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Patient and professional demeanor, with a can-do attitude.

Working Environment:

  • Mainly office environment but on occasion (when needed) go into the plant

  • Occasionally wears proper PPE in the manufacturing area (shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection)
