Basic Qualifications
Advanced education and/or technical training beyond high school.
5+ years experience in the management of physical facilities, including staff and/or vendor supervision experience.
Demonstrated experience with building automated control systems including security and HVAC.

Position Description
Responsible for all facilities operations including:
Oversees the maintenance & operations of the facilities to provide a safe home for graduate and undergraduate students.
Regularly interacts with student residents, faculty, and staff responding to occupant building problems/requests promptly and resolving them quickly.
Responsible for budget management, vendor selection, & managing relationships with many Harvard departments.
Directs day-to-day activity of custodial staff, building trades, & contractors to assure timely and cost-effective completion of work.
Maintains the security of the buildings through proper attention to access control, security procedures and the condition of locking devices.
Reviews computer-based HVAC, security and fire systems, monitors safety compliance, coordinates inspections and ensures compliance with codes & regulations.
Works closely with OPRP and Harvard University Office for Sustainability staff to implement best operations and maintenance practices, and to actively participate in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) greenhouse gas and energy reduction efforts and goals for House.
Responds to emergency situations as appropriate during both working and off-hours.
Occasional planned weekend work including student move-in and move-out & Summer School move-in.
Job Summary
The Area Manager for the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) is responsible for complete facility management of 8 buildings, 225,000 square feet and a budget of 2.6 million. The building portfolio includes graduate dormitories, administrative offices, library collections and a dining facility.
