SUMMARY
At the Y, we purposefully engage members throughout their health and wellness journeys. Group Exercise is one of many ways the Y helps support members to achieve their health and wellness goals. The Zumba Instructor teaches group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
2.Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
3.Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
4.Keeps accurate class attendance records.
5.Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
6.Attend staff meeting and training to stay current with latest fitness trends and educational information.
7.Instruct your scheduled class at least 90% of each quarterly session.
8.When unable to work, instructors are responsible for obtaining their substitutes from the current staff list and notify supervisor of arrangements.
9.Create a noncompetitive atmosphere.
10. Assess each class to determine their ability to follow your instructions. Adjust the workout to the various skill levels of class participants. Offer exercise modifications frequently.
11. Change music and movements frequently. Seek to make each class that will keep members coming back.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
1.Nationally recognized certification in area of group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification.
2.Current certification in areas of expertise.
3.CPR/AED & First Aid certification, Bloodborne Pathogens & Child Abuse Prevention training required upon hire
4.At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred.
5.High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
