POSITION TITLE:Zone Teacher Support Specialist: Learning Zone 2 (6 Vacancies)
Works within zones to nurture and support site-based teacher leadership. Works closely with schools in assigned zone to support professional development, training, and facilitation.
Creates connections between district resources and school practices.
Leverage district digital professional learning system to scale training and resource provisions at the school level.
Collaborate with Teacher Leader Facilitators for group facilitation skills and professional development planning.
Tailor professional development for each school based on school's plan using district resources and created resources.
Participate as an advisor to the Instructional Council regarding professional development resources.
Provide direct individual teacher support, as well as school-based delivery of PD as requested.
Model instructional strategies and teaching best-practices.
Network and coordinate and collaborates with district Instructional Support Specialists, site-based Teacher Leader Facilitators and school administrators.
Meet weekly with Zone level peers to refine support.
Attend monthly meetings with Instructional Support Specialists to refine and improve PD offerings.
Co-plan quarterly meetings with Instructional Support Specialists and which are attended by Teacher Leader Facilitators to ascertain and support PD needs/issues at the building level across the district.
Collect feedback from Zone Associate Superintendent, Principals, Teacher Leader Facilitators and Teachers to make program recommendations for District Teacher Support Network.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
Extensive written and oral communication skills.
Full understanding of current content areas and pedagogy.
Leadership experience with adults in a school setting with a strong grasp of emotional, cognitive and motivational needs of adult learners.
Experience in creating professional development for a variety of purposes.
Experience in professional development delivery in a variety of settings.
Experience in group facilitation.
Experience in use of technology as an integrated instructional component.
Ability to stay highly organized and to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong initiative and ability to work autonomously with little supervision.
Reflective and flexible working style, with a strong desire to learn and accept new challenges.
Ability to work cooperatively and receive feedback from professional staff members.
Current New Mexico Level III license
Willingness to work flexible hours as needed
