Job Title: Director of Youth Tennis Head Pro
Branch: Upper Main Line YMCA
Pay Class: Full Time/Exempt
Shifts: Tuesday-Saturday, typically Monday-Friday for summer season
Rate: $55,000-$60,000
About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.
Position Purpose: This role is responsible for the management and delivery of youth tennis programs at the Upper Main Line YMCA. The role also serves as the head tennis pro to provide coaching and private tennis lessons to youth and adults. The YMCA's Racquet Sports Complex includes four indoor tennis courts, sixteen outdoor tennis courts, three indoor pickleball courts, and twelve outdoor pickleball courts. This director position supervises year-round part-time tennis pro staff and tennis summer camp counselors responsible for delivering the youth tennis portfolio. The position is supervised by the Senior Director of Racquet Sports.
Responsibilities:
Provide instruction for beginners through advanced to enhance UMLY members experience and participation.
Ensure tennis programs are in place at the facility to service the entire scope of members and playing abilities (juniors, adults, seniors).
Organize a variety of special events at the facility to retain and attract interest for the sport.
Provide input to the Senior Director of Racquet Sports for programming and funding necessary for operations with sufficient notice prior to yearly budget development.
Provide educational opportunities for all members so they can understand and enjoy the play of tennis and pickleball.
Provide timely marketing information and materials regarding tennis and tennis programs for the monthly tennis newsletter. Prepare program event and facility marketing materials including news releases, flyers, pamphlets and brochures.
Attend other Association events to promote tennis and pickleball programs and get more members involved in the playing of tennis.
Supervise, facilitate and oversee scheduled tennis events, instructional classes and programs; oversee the issuance and collection of recreational equipment for an event, class or program; ensure adequate staffing for the event, class, or program.
Serves as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience required
At least ten years of tennis professional instruction experience
USPTR or USPTA certified.
Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fundraising
Preferred knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations required
Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations
YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification preferred
Must be fluent in spoken and written English
Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
