Job Summary:

The CARA Track Head Coach - Sports Supervisor Program Supervisor position is an integral part of the City of Greeley's Recreation Division and is responsible for the on-site supervision and management of recreation services, programs, and events. The Program Supervisor will report to the Recreation Coordinator and/or the Recreation Leader and provide oversight and leadership to hourly staff and volunteers. The Program Supervisor is expected to exercise sound judgment and effectively serve all areas of the program.

Program Summary

CARA Track is a statewide program for young athletes ages 5-16 to compete in track and field over the course of the summer in various regional track and field meets. The program is recreational in nature, allowing an easy entry for newcomers, and opportunity for growth for long-time participants, through personal coaching and team activities.

City of Greeley Recreation's CARA Track program has a head coach, as well as several assistant coaches to help support the 80-120 children in the program.

Practices are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at District 6 Stadium from June to the end of July, with 5 Saturday meets spread throughout.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:

Minimum Requirements

  • 2-4 years of Track and Field experience
  • 2-4 years of Coaching experience
  • 1-3 years of prior customer service experience
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required within 60 days of hire.

Essential Functions:

  • Aides in the oversight and delivery of Greeley Recreation programs, services, and special events, supporting and leading other part-time staff including, but not limited to, officials and scorekeepers.

  • Prepares gym/field for play by setting up any necessary equipment and inspect the site to ensure participant safety.

  • Works effectively and productively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Explains and enforces facility and/or program rules, policies, and procedures while positively representing the City.

  • Provides first-rate customer support to members, guests, participants, and the public, resolving immediate concerns as best as possible with the established guidelines and framework of the facility and/or program.

  • Acts quickly, calmly, and appropriately in emergency situations.

  • Attends staff meetings and trainings.

Working Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent interruptions and heavy public contact.

  • Sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time.

  • Work may be performed indoors or outdoors and in adverse weather or extremely hot conditions, where one may be exposed to loud noises, dust, fumes, and chemicals.

  • Workdays may extend from early morning to late evening, as well as weekends and holidays, as needed.

  • Vision to perform physical activities, read computer keyboards, reference books and other written documents.

  • Strength and stamina enough to walk, stand, stretch, bend, lift or carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Manual dexterity to complete daily work such as operate computer keyboards, drive and operate motor vehicles, and operate other office equipment and complete paperwork.
