Overview
Serves as a role model for rational decision making while also maintaining safety and security. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department. MALE APPLICANTS ONLY.
Responsibilities
Supervises and monitors youth during recreation, youth movement to and from class and throughout the facility.
Ensures safety requirements and expectations.
Counsels youth and documents youth behavior.
Processes new youth arrivals as needed.
Conducts conferences with youths' parents, Senior Youth Specialist, probation officer, counselor, and the treatment team.
Conducts psychoeducational groups using a leadership style that promotes youth participation and positive adolescent development.
Attends all staff meetings and conferences as required.
Appropriately manages aggressive student behavior including verbal de-escalation and restraining individuals as needed.
Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
Qualifications
High school diploma/GED.
Experience working with at-risk adolescents. One year job related experience working in a treatment oriented, behavior modification or adolescent/juvenile program is preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communications skills.
Must be 21 years of age.
CPR-First Aid Certification.
Valid Texas Driver's License.
Eligible to be certified as a Juvenile Supervision Officer.
Must be available to work the following schedule: Sunday
Thursday, 2:00 pm
10:00 pm.
SALARY RANGE: $21.11 - $29.62 per hour based on qualifications
This position is eligible for additional compensation based upon state supplement and certification pay.
