Job Description

The Multnomah Athletic Club's Youth Programs department is expanding and seeking attendants for a variety of areas including Childcare, after-school programs for children in both fitness and non-fitness areas, and birthday parties. We value communication, respect, and teamwork and you should too. This is an ideal job for college students, workers with a passion for youth development and other professionals with multiple commitments. Key Roles:

  • Supervise, control and maintain child-designated areas to ensure safety and a high member satisfaction.
  • Interact with a variety of junior members and their families while showcasing a high level of service.
  • Lead children in a wide range of activities which could include games, workouts, story time, and much more.
  • Report major rule violations, emergencies, and customer concerns to supervisor through incident reports and direct communication.

Qualifications Required:

  • A passion for working with children.
  • Previous work experience with youth and/or sports is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and decision making skills.
  • Ability to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • When necessary, be able to move exercise equipment

VIEW JOBS 7/15/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-10-13T00:00 We are an equal opportunity employer; including veteran and/or disability status Essential Functions: * Performing the following will involve travel, including driving, to various locations. * Regular and reliable attendance is required to meet program needs Coordination of Service * Ensure follow through of daily/weekly/monthly programming including daily structure/activities, supervision of youth, transportation needs, medication management, client menus, program structure and routines based on program model. * Coordinate and manage all client transportation in coordination with the case manager's and program coordinator. Lead Oversight/Training * In conjunction with the Program Coordinator, orient and coach Youth Care Counselors; provide individual support, coaching, and training, and follow through with other assigned lead responsibilities. * Ensure implementation of existing systems that support effective and efficient operations of the program. * Perform all Youth Care Counselor duties including providing direct support services to clients such as supervision, transportation, recreation, group facilitation, and other services as needed. Provide shift coverage as needed and daily support to the Youth Care Counselor's with the operation of the program when youth are in the building. Policy & Facility Oversight * Work closely with the Program Coordinator to ensure implementation of the program systems, philosophy and design. * Work closely with the Program Coordinator to ensure program and vehicle maintenance needs are addressed and reported to the Facilities Manager timely. Work closely with the Program Coordinator and Facilities Manager to ensure repairs and upkeep are completed. * Work closely with the Program Coordinator, staff and vendors to ensure the provision of food, laundry, cleaning, and supply services. * Work closely with the Program Coordinator to ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, fire, and licensing regulations. Participate on the facility's Health and Safety Committee and follow up with necessary improvements as identified. Collaborate with Program Coordinator to help resolve any programming-related health and safety issues. Collaborate with Facilities Manager regarding inspections or health and safety issues involving the program area. Secondary Functions: * Assist the team to learn and implement positive behavior management, trauma informed care, attachment theory and collaborative problem solving based on program practice model. Qualifications and Job Requirements: Must be able to provide appropriate services and interact appropriately with people from diverse socio-economic, racial, ethnic, and other cultural groups, considering their needs and impact of the interaction. * Job Knowledge: Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in relevant field (such as social work, psychology, sociology, or juvenile justice, etc.); and minimum one (1) year related experience which may have resulted from work, internships or volunteering with youth. OR relevant knowledge and skills gained from minimum four (4) years of experience specifically in residential care will suffice a BA/BS, with some college or training. Level 4 * Supervising: Provides daily work direction to youth care counselors, and assists the Program Director and the Program Coordinator with hiring, training and development plans, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, termination, pay adjustments and/or job assignments and changes. Level 2 * Decision Making: Must be able to make decisions and recommendations, and solve problems in ways, which are appropriate and follow contract, statutory and Agency policies, procedures and protocols. Decision-making, problem solving, and/or recommendations are within the scope of position responsibilities. Level 4 * Interpersonal Skills/Interactions: Interacts with a variety of people including work group, clients and outside contacts. Interactions may contain some non-routine information. Communication and interpersonal skills are important, and must be well refined. Interactions with others may be complex and may be demanding or difficult. Level 3 * Impact: Impacts Youth Team direction and outcomes, and client outcomes and satisfaction. Develops activity plans which address the needs of diverse socio-economic, racial, ethnic and other cultural groups served. Level 3 Additional Skills & Abilities: * Must have knowledge of and be able to implement contractor requirements as they pertain to the program, and how program fits in the Agency. * Must be able to use a variety of computer programs to complete some elements of job duties. Additional Requirements/Preferences, including Licenses and/or Certifications: Requirements: * Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence (Oregon or Washington), personal automobile liability insurance, and pass a DMV driving record check. * Must meet the driving requirements under the Agency Safe Driving Policy, and maintain a good driving record that is eligible for coverage by the agency's current insurance provider. * Must successfully pass the Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check and, if applicable, fingerprinting. * Must be able to pass the pre-employment reference checks. * Must be able to provide official grade transcripts, including the education level, from all educational institutions mentioned in the education section of the employment application. * Must be able to provide a copy of his/her own social security card for W-4 documentation. * Must be able to provide applicable documentation(s) for I-9 in order to establish identity and authorization to work in the US. * Must maintain First Aid and CPR certifications. Preferences: Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Level 3 * Stands, walks, bends, stoops, and sits in front of a computer screen keyboarding on a consistent basis. * Knowledge of youth development, and youth care milieu experience. * May work outside or transport clients under a variety of conditions. May need to drive clients in car or agency van or vehicle. May transport up to 5 youth unaided. * May lift or carry up to 25 lbs. on an occasional basis. * May encounter highly anxious/agitated youth and their families. Must successfully complete CPI training. * Regular and consistent attendance is required.
