SCOPE OF POSITION: # Waterbury Hospital has hosted the Youth Pipeline Initiative programs including the Parent Leadership Training Institute [PLTI] since 2000. The programs have trained and graduated over 5,000 area students and parents. The program#s core mission is to impart leadership and advocacy skills and enriching exposure and experience in the healthcare fields to student and parents while simultaneously educating them about volunteerism, civic life, and the process by which state and local governments enact and change laws. # # RESPONSIBILITIES: # Program Activity: Responsible for instructing Youth Pipeline Initiative program participants in leadership, community involvement, education, career exposures, careers in healthcare, program development, presentation, and any other curriculum.


Responsible for helping Community Outreach Coordinator run programs including executing program curriculum through teaching


, instruction, guidance. Responsible for ensuring they follow program curriculum and Waterbury Health policies. Assist with graduation ceremonies of the different programs. Assistant program participants with individual projects as curriculum requires.


Community Outreach:


Assist Public Relations Department in building community relationships by maintaining and working closely with community partners. Assist in Youth Pipeline Initiative community outreach events in Waterbury and surrounding area.


REQUIREMENTS:


High School Diploma or Associates Degree or Bachelor#s degree in healthcare, social work, or public health domains preferred Ability to speak Spanish or Albanian preferred. One (1) year exposure to program development, program management and reporting and experience in managing community programs preferred A valid Connecticut Driver#s License, reliable transportation with insurance coverage# Good written and oral communication skills.# Demonstrated ability to work independently Knowledge of office procedures. Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Activity:

  • Responsible for coordinating all program activity associated with the successful completion of the Youth Pipeline Initiative Programs.

  • Responsible for the successful recruiting of community members for the program, building and running enriching program curriculums that meet state and federal standards and standards of the community partners who support these programs.

  • Responsible for supervising all instructors for the programs and ensuring they follow program curriculum and Waterbury Health policies.

  • Review and revise programs to continuously meet needs of community members it serves including enriching career development exposure, leadership training and community building.

Community Outreach:

  • Assist Public Relations Department in building community relationships by maintaining and working closely with community partners.

  • Assist in community outreach events in Waterbury and surrounding area.

  • Constantly seek opportunities to work with and build relationships with community groups and community leaders.

  • Actively reach out to key community groups and leaders to assess their needs and increase working relationships and support between Waterbury Health and these groups including but not limited to: Waterbury Public Schools, community and non-for profit organizations supporting youth and parents, churches, community leaders, parent groups, parents.

Other:

  • Develop, implement and maintain tracking system to ensure the timely submission of all reports, including financial reports and budgets, and filing of all documents to meet format and standards of quarterly community benefit filings.

  • Provide supervision to project staff or contractors employed by WHHC in documentation of project activities and overall support, such as correspondence, acquisition of equipment and supplies, and accountability.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates Degree or Bachelor's degree in healthcare, social work, or public health domains preferred

  • At least two (1) years practicing in a supervisory capacity in a non-profit setting preferred

  • One (1) year exposure to program development, program management and reporting and experience in managing community programs preferred

  • A valid Connecticut Driver's License, reliable transportation with insurance coverage

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently

  • Demonstrated program development experience. Ability to coordinate and provide oversight to multiple entities, departments, State and Local Government offices and external social service agencies.

  • Experience developing program budgets program and financial reports

  • Knowledge of office procedures.

  • Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures.

  • Perform automated functions that fall within job responsibility.

  • Analytical abilities to aggregate and report findings and to assit in obtaining solutions to problems.

  • Must be able to work independently, prioritize work and meet timelines

  • Must be flexible and able to manage multiple priorities.

  • Rotating shifts; some weekends
