The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the Parish St. John Neumann Catholic Church, which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ's mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.

Job Summary:

The Youth Ministry Evangelist - Children PK-5th is integral to the Disciple Development team and partners with all staff and volunteers to build disciples and foster spiritual maturity through relational ministry, formation programs, and outreach opportunities. The Disciple Development team encourages parishioners from diverse walks at every point in their lives to know the love of Christ and the freedom in following his will.

Essential Job Duties:

  • As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in both your professional and personal life.

  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.

  • Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.

  • Foster a culture of evangelization and discipleship for students in kindergarten through 5th Grade.

  • Leverage well-developed and best practice curriculum to drive and execute on associated ministries of religious education and youth ministry, including sacramental preparation program.

  • Partner with various youth ministries to develop a roadmap that connects each journey allowing for one seamless and effective experience.

  • Foster an environment of community and ministry through effective programs, projects, and events as well as relationships with the youth, parents, and volunteers.

  • Prioritize leadership development and relational ministry with the youth, parents, and volunteers.

  • Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in both your professional and personal life.

  • Develop relational ministry with students and their families that brings them closer to Jesus and the Church.

  • Develop and coordinate volunteers to assist in facilitating all youth ministry events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the structure and basic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

  • Familiarity with directing and coordinating Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for kinder through 5th grade programming.

  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations

  • Communication skills - excellent oral and written; comfortable with public speaking

  • Skilled at time management (organizing and prioritizing) to carry out multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • Skilled in demonstrating spiritual leadership

  • Comfortable praying with others and leading others in prayer

  • Well organized; attention to detail and ability to organize others

  • Ability to operate various word-processing software, spreadsheets, and database programs

  • Ability to appropriately use judgment and discretion to resolve problems and achieve goals

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others both as a team member and as a team leader

  • Ability to create and foster an environment consistent with the parish mission and goals

  • Ability in competencies such as interpersonal influence, innovative thinking, relationship building, and performance leadership

  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with all

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Training:

  • Must have knowledge of Catholic Teaching and the proven ability to infuse those teachings into ministry.

  • Bachelor's degree in theology or related field.

Experience:

  • Experience in finding and/or developing resources for assistance through networking and research

  • Experience ministering to adolescents; setting appropriate boundaries and other appropriate dimensions of working with others

  • Must have at least two years of work experience in a pastoral setting

  • Experience working within the Catholic community

Catholic Requirement:

  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid Texas driver's license.

  • Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
