Building Lasting Relationships

You would be responsible for creating a secure and encouraging environment to help support real life change for our students. Our team works to uncover the academic, social, and emotional potential of students who have been held back by emotional and behavioral struggles. Sunrise incorporates Relational DBT into every aspect of the program and ensures that therapists and staff are trained to help students practice these skills continually.

Role As a Youth Mentor:

As a Youth Mentor, your day-to-day life is centered around nurturing, guiding, and supporting the students in our care. You become a beacon of support for their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Your time is largely spent engaging in various activities with our teen students while they work toward their life worth living. Amidst these exciting activities, your role is to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, promoting an environment of trust and personal growth.

The pay range for a mentor at Sunrise is $17 to $19 dollars and hour. Pay is depending on experience and education.

WORK SCHEDULE

A Youth Mentor is a part-time, hourly position, working up to 28 hours in a week and up to 40 hours when you are scheduled for a Sunday shift. We are currently hiring for a Youth Mentor on the following Shifts:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday
  • 6:45AM-3:30PM or 2:45PM-11:30PM
  • Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
  • 6:45AM-3:30PM or 2:45PM-11:30PM
  • Weekends Only (Sat and Sun)
  • 6:45AM-3:30PM or 2:45PM-11:30PM
  • You will be scheduled one 16-hour Sunday shift every 4 weeks even if you only work weekends.

  • Youth Mentors will also participate in weekly staff meetings.

Responsibilities

As a Youth Mentor, your responsibilities are both diverse and impactful:

  • Academic Participation (AM): Attend and engage in a classroom setting to support students and teachers a like.

  • Group Participation (PM): Attend and engage in group sessions with students, fostering a sense of community.

  • Safety First: Maintain a safe environment, ensuring the well-being of our students.

  • Boundary Maintenance: Uphold professional boundaries while building trust and rapport.

  • Therapeutic Support: Collaborate with therapists to implement interventions aligned with each teen's treatment plan.

Qualifications

  • 21 years old or older

  • Current driver's license and a good driving record

  • Ability to pass a Utah State background check and drug test

  • Must be willing to make a 8-month minimum commitment

Experience working with at risk youth, childcare, scouting, camps, or post high school training in the field of mental health is preferred.
