  1. Job Summary:

The Youth Internship position provides educational opportunities for youth as part of the Youth Employment initiative to work at the YMCA to gain business and operational experiences which transfer to work skills for their future employment. Duties and responsibilities vary based on assignment and needs of the YMCA department or project.

2.Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates behaviors and actions consistent with YMCA values, code of conduct and other policies and procedures.

  • Performs duties and responsibilities as outlined for the task or projects assigned (see the Learning Agreement).

  • Participates in trainings, workshops and application of skills necessary to perform assigned duties and responsibilities.

  • Communicates with identified internship supervisor reporting on progress, making recommendations, preparing reports, etc.

  • Obtains feedback from internship supervisor to enhance skill development.


This position reports to the internship supervisor who reports to the next level manager for the assigned branch or department. The incumbent interacts regularly with staff and may participate in meetings to complete assignment or project.



  • Must be minimum 14 years of age.

  • Must be accepted into the YMCA Career Pathways Program prior to applying for internship (when applicable).

  • Ability to comply with all rules, guidelines, and professional conduct set forth by your supervisor and by the YMCA.

  • Basic computer skills (when applicable).

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Commitment to fulfill scheduled hours to accomplish assigned duties and tasks.

  • Willingness to learn and ask questions to enhance the development process.


  • High School graduate or equivalency or currently in High School or in pursuit of GED.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

5.Work Conditions:

  • General office work demands including working on a computer for an extended period of time.

Inventory Intern - Minneapolis Summary Bind is actively seeking a motivated intern to work with the Inventory team. Bind views "inventory" as all of the goods and services that healthcare providers offer to the market. The Inventory team's role is to array those products as options to our members when they are looking to consume healthcare. Our inventory team sources those products, identifies who does them and where, and then creates member costs based on practice pattern and fee schedule differences. The Inventory Intern will work closely with Inventory team members to document and improve upon existing processes and work products. This is a 3-month internship starting in June of 2020. Responsibilities Workstream #1: Design and produce new resources to support Bind's evaluation of providers in each market. This process is foundational to Bind's innovative new health insurance product. Each quarter, Bind updates its evaluation of providers. To better support internal and external communication about these updates, Bind is looking to build a robust dashboard. The dashboard will have summary-level statistics and support detailed "drill downs" into a specific location or service. Workstream #2: Assess and work to improve Bind's inventory of healthcare locations, practitioners, and services. For example, the Inventory Intern will support Bind in developing algorithmic processes to identify which locations perform a specific healthcare service. Impact to Bind: Both these workstreams support Bind's unique value proposition of providing price certainty to members. The Inventory Intern will interact with many teams at Bind, requiring this position to work cross-functionally to understand the business and develop corresponding outputs.
