Youth Employment Program Worker

THE POSITION

Are you a Carson resident between 14 and 21 years old? Opportunities are available in the areas of office administration, information technology, customer service, recreation, gardening, maintenance, graffiti clean-up and more.

Program Objectives for the Youth Employment Program

• Encourage school completion and enrollment in post-secondary education and/or training.

• Expose youth to career options and opportunities

• Offer part-time temporary jobs

• Divert youth into positive activities

• Assist youth with interpersonal relations at home and in the community

Program for Carson Youth

The Youth Employment Program operates during the summer break offering opportunities for youths ages 14-21. The goal of the Youth Employment Program is to provide diverse employment options, enabling participants to gain valuable experience across various fields of work.

QUALIFICATIONS

The following criteria must be met in order to have an application considered for the City of Carson Youth Employment Program:

• The applicant must be a resident of Carson, supported by valid verification documents

• Carson Youth ages 14-21, on or before July 8, 2024, are eligible for the City of Carson Youth Employment Program

• Carson Youth applicants under 18 yrs. of age will be required to obtain a work permit

• Carson Youth Applicants aged 18 and older who receive a job offer are required to undergo a drug screening and background check

• Applicants must answer all required supplemental questions for consideration

Identification

• When applying for the City of Carson Youth Employment Program, a state-issued ID, driver's license and/or passport provide an added advantage of serving as proof of residence. The City of Carson will accept a current photo school ID for applicants 17 years and under.

Social Security Card

• Federal law requires the City of Carson to verify the social security number of each potential Youth Employment Worker. If your social security card cannot be located, please apply for a replacement card ASAP; it generally takes 10-14 days to receive a new card.

• We encourage you to open a bank or credit union account to manage your wages.
