Job Description:

SUNY Orange's Continuing and Professional Education unit (CAPE) is seeking a part-time Youth Employment Counselor to join the staff of the Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) for at-risk youth 16-24 on the Middletown Campus. This position has the possibility of becoming a full time position.

The Youth Employment Counselor will provide program participants with employment counseling and facilitate job search sessions. The Counselor will teach pre-employment skills and deliver a customer service curriculum on a regular basis.

The Youth Employment counselor will help students establish career and employment goals utilizing career surveys and web-based resources. In addition the Youth Employment Counselor will develop paid and unpaid work experience sites and an orientation for youth and work site supervisors as well as generation of reports as needed.


Education and experience required:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or Counseling with a minimum of three years of experience working with at risk youth and young adults.

Preferred experience: Three to five years experience working with youth and counseling students on employment goals and objectives including paid work experience, the job search and strategies for obtaining educational and vocational training.

Additional Information:

Compensation: $22 per hour for up to 29 hours per week
