YOUTH EDUCATOR Reports to: Youth Program Manager Classification:
Part time, .25 FTE, non-exempt Location: East Bay office plus Bay Area-wide travel for workshops/presentations in 9 Bay Area counties

Shalom Bayit seeks a dynamic youth educator to join our team at a pivotal moment as we expand our Love Shouldnt Hurt teen dating violence prevention program.
The Youth Educator will facilitate healthy relationships education and dating violence prevention workshops for Jewish youth, educators, and parents.
Position also includes outreach and collaboration with Jewish youth organizations, assisting the Youth Program Manager in youth leadership development, training and curriculum development; and opportunities to participate in Shalom Bayits broad-based community work on gender-based violence.

Responsibilities: Facilitate workshops on dating violence, healthy relationships, consent, and boundaries to Jewish youth (elementary through college age) as well as companion workshops for parents and educators Conduct and coordinate outreach to Jewish youth groups, schools, synagogues, and camps Promote Love Shouldnt Hurt locally and nationally Maintain accurate and up-to-date program statistics, program evaluation, records and documentation Provide training and technical assistance to communities seeking to replicate or implement our curriculum Help lead peer cohorts of youth interns Manage the Love Shouldnt Hurt Instagram Perform all duties necessary to the function of Shalom Bayit programs, including but not limited to: Collaborating with team to ensure smooth running of agency office and programs Contributing to annual event production, including but not limited to youth-related programming Participating in agency planning; attending staff meetings, trainings and agency events

Knowledge of Bay Area Jewish community and/or other Jewish communal experience Background in youth leadership and/or domestic violence prevention At least one year professional public speaking or workshop facilitation experience BA in related field or equivalent experience 40-hour domestic violence advocate training (can be completed after hire) Commitment to agency philosophy, mission and vision

Natural talent and ability to work effectively with young people Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with both coworkers and diverse populations in the community, including a wide range of cultural and religious beliefs, class backgrounds, sexual and gender orientations, ages, and abilities Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills Self-motivation and ability to plan, prioritize and organize workload Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to work in a small, grassroots environment dedicated to empowering women and girls Personal qualifications of responsibility, sensitivity, flexibility, initiative and insight Commitment to and understanding of social change approaches to ending violence Shalom Bayit staff and volunteers work collectively as a team.

Purpose Statement: The position is designed to assess partners that want move into the Pet Stylist Apprentice Program. In this position the incumbent will provide basic salon services, customer service and administrative tasks as necessary. This job is composed of tasks that are covered by operational guidelines, and while individual judgment may occasionally be required in order to complete assigned tasks, most questions are directed to either the Grooming Salon Manager, General Manager or Pet Stylist. This position is to prepare you for Petco's Pet Stylist Apprentice position, where you will be taught a skill in the art of professional pet styling. Essential Job Functions: The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation. * Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with emphasis on company interests * Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes * Interest in animal welfare * Move animals up to 30 pounds Supervisory Responsibility: None Work Environment: The majority of job duties are conducted indoors in the grooming salon. Position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time. A large amount of this partner's time will be spent in direct contact with our customers and their dogs and the remaining time will be with the GSM and other salon partners. The work environment can be noisy and wet. Education and Experience: A qualified applicant to this position will demonstrate basic knowledge in the grooming industry, and either a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED) is preferred.
