Catholic Charities is seeking Youth Development Associate - Multiple Positions for the 2018-2019 School Year


The Youth Development Associate (YDA) is the primary staff position in the Catholic Charities' After School Program.

The YDA who works with younger students will be a generalist and provide programming using preset curricula in literacy, STEM, Social skills and others with a set group of 10 students.

The YDA working with older students may be a specialist in an area such as arts, music, crafting, social skills/youth development, STEM, or others and work with different groups of students during the week.

Work hours are during the school year. Some summer hours may be available It is a part-time position working up to 15 hours weekly during the school year with the possibility of more hours during the summer season. School year hours are between 3:30pm to 6:30pm, Monday through Friday.

There is one week of professional development at the start of each program year (early September). Summer staff will have two weeks of program planning/professional development in June. There are also monthly professional development opportunities

Hours: Working up to 15 hours per week in after school program during the school year.


  • College preferred. H.S. Diploma and training/experience in the field of instruction.


  • Classroom management and/or group facilitation skills

  • Able to work with urban children and youth

  • Bilingual Spanish capability is a plus.


  • Provide academic support via homework help to an assigned group of students assisted by high school program interns at least 4 afternoons a week for 45 minutes.

  • Provide enrichment instruction to an assigned group of elementary age students in an after school program Monday through Friday during the school year.

  • Take daily attendance using required forms and submit attendance on a daily basis to the Program Coordinator.

  • Ensure sequenced lesson plans are in place with measurable outcomes. Be able to document achievement among the program participants.

  • Provide enrichment program activities to two assigned groups of students for a Prepare sequenced lesson plans with measurable outcomes.

  • Document achievement among the program participants.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities As the leader of the Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) Development Group, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and technicians tasked with developing ceramic matrix composite and coatings for use in aero gas turbine engines. In this role, you will be responsible for: * Setting technical direction, budget and schedule of all programs and coordinating development activities with Hot Section Engineering Integrated Product Teams * Contributing to the development of a corporate CMC application strategy that spans development to production transition. * Working with internal and external customers to secure program funding aligned with the execution of our material development technology strategy * Meeting all Environmental Health & Safety and Preventative Maintenance requirements for CMC associated development laboratories; and * Proposing and executing capital improvements for the laboratories under your direction and driving ACE and Engineering Standard Work improvement activities * 20% Travel To be successful in this position, you should have the following experience: Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Material Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry * 10+ years' experience Ceramic Matrix Composite Development * US Citizen due to program requirements * The ability to obtain a US Government Secret Clearance Preferred Qualifications: * Master's or Ph.D. in Material Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry with * 8+ years' experience in Ceramic Matrix Composite Development * US Government Secret Clearance * Excellent Judgment and professional maturity * The ability to create positive relationships and craft clear communication The final Grade/Level for this position will be based on Qualifications and Experience.
