Summary: To enhance services to youth, the Youth Coordinator will assist in the coordination of services and activities with Youth. The Youth Coordinator will serve as a leader in the planning and implementing plans regarding programs and activities which address the needs of youth. Individual accountabilities and work volume will be established through the development of annual Success Objectives, within the framework outlined below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides youth programming, including, but not limited to: direct youth programs and out of school time activities, summer activities, K-12 case management, youth and young adult mentoring, early childhood and family literacy, college awareness and all other youth programs.
Facilitate outreach and assessments and referrals for the Youth population
Serve as the lead per service area for all funder and program initiatives for youth
Facilitate and Coordinate programs for Youth ages 0-24 years of age
Serve as the lead per service area for the Youth Summer and Junior Counselor program.
Conducts monthly programs/ activities that highlight targeted youth programs.
Builds linkage agreements between Heartland Alliance and youth providers in the city of Chicago.
Promotes program activities and services to meet the needs and the expectations of the youth population.
Serves as an advocate for Heartland Alliance youth population.
Facilitates and coordinates workshops and special events with the youth population, including, but not limited to, the areas of: employment, education, etc.
Provides external linkages that support all youth initiatives and outcomes (e.g. park district, day care providers, etc.).
Develops strong partnerships with local elementary and high schools to promote after-school programming and sport activities.
Coordinates with other teams to ensure quality services for youth.
Tracks service and outcome data and completes case notes in a timely and accurate manner .
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of seven years' experience in casework, human services or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree may be required if mandated by funder and/or regulatory agency.
Language Skills:Fluency in a second language may be required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Other Qualifications:A valid driver's license may be required.
Mathematical Skills:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
