The incumbent in this position will be responsible for assisting program participants in program training sessions and/or small group classes. This individual must understand and keep current on information relating to exercise/movement industry.

During training sessions the instructor must be observant of participants and their level of ability. The individual must continue the monitor participation and confirm attendance during their shift. Cleaning equipment and areas in which they teach daily. Incumbent will attend team meetings, monthly in services and demonstrates a high level of interpersonal skill in order to represent the Mercy Health and Wellness Connection.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Provide professional instruction and programming for all facets of physical fitness including but not limited to, muscular strength and endurance, aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, functional movement, and mobility. Provides assistance and explains procedures to ensure the proper use of equipment and individual exercises.

Maintains/establishes a clean working environment. Assists team with biometric screenings with detailed knowledge of blood pressure, resting heart rate, waist measurement, body composition, grip strength, lab profiles specific to screening. Ability to teach group classes on and off site.

Assists in the daily operations of answering phone calls, responding to emails, scheduling requests, and filing. Performs additional duties as assigned. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma

Experience: Minimum (1) year of work experience in related area.

Certification/Registration: CPR/AED certified.

Other: Must be professional, accountable and passionate, timely and have a motivating personality.

Must be willing to work hard and make a commitment to the health and wellness program. Strong people skills, flexibility, and the ability to work in a multi-tasking environment. Experience and high comfort level working and communicating with various age groups.

Preferred Education: Bachelors of Science in an Exercise Health related field.

Preferred Experience: Two years in exercise science or related field specifically related to muscular strength and endurance, aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, functional movement, and flexibility.

Two years experience in providing nutrition education and programming based on proven academic dietetic degree. Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Other: In additional to those noted above: HKC, RKC, SFG Kettlebell Level I and II, SFG Bodyweight, SFG Barbell, FMS certified.
