Short Description

The purpose of the Yardworker position is to utilize the expertise of the candidate to support the needs of the branch in a professional, safe and timely manner. An individual in this position will work to keep all equipment clean and organized in order to provide our customers reliability, consistency and the highest standards possible. This individual is knowledgeable of heavy equipment and construction equipment. He/she has mastered the operating standards of the facility, the region and corporation.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, maintain and organize heavy equipment, construction equipment and various pieces of machinery

  • Review special orders from management

  • Read invoices and shipping statements and file them properly

  • Deliver/pick-up of parts and equipment from various locations.

  • Assist in the loading/unloading of rental equipment

  • Maintain work area and yard area in an organized manner

  • Assist with service and maintenance record keeping

  • Perform other duties as assigned

With over 23 programs, we offer multiple ways to aid seniors maintain their health, well-being, independence and participation in the community, fulfilling our mission. The Lifeways-PACE Department is seeking a Healthcare Worker – Center Worker to join its team in San Francisco's Inner Richmond neighborhood. Reporting to the Center Supervisor, the Healthcare Worker – Center Worker provides direct services to frail elders in the day health center or in the home. PACE On Lok Lifeways pioneered the model of care known as "Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly" or PACE. Institute on Aging operates a PACE Center in the Richmond District of San Francisco. PACE allows seniors who are ill or disabled to live in their own home, whether home is a family residence, apartment, retirement village or hotel room. IOA's PACE Center is a lively place where participants have access to medical care, social activities, exercise and meals. Participants may attend our PACE Center one to five days a week, based on the team's recommendations and the senior's needs and interests. IOA's staff members are sensitive to the needs and changes of each participant's health and emotional state. This comes from many decades of experience in senior care. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: * As part of a health care team, provides personal care and assistance which will maintain and increase the ability of an older person to live safely at home. Tasks may include: homemaker service, assisting participants with personal care (colostomy care, bathing, peri-care, care of mouth, skin and hair) and assisting participants with eating; helping in and out of bed in the center; assistance in toileting (including use of bedpan); and assisting with ambulation. Other tasks may include participant laundry, shopping, taking vital signs and collection of urine, sputum, escorting and assisting clients to and from medical appointments. * Provides behavioral/emotional supervision or support to participants, such as reality orientation or reminders to follow through on nursing/medical care and diet restrictions. Assist in the delivery of meals and medications. * Other duties may include assistance with meal preparation, including special diets and set up for meals at the center or to take home. * Under supervision of professional staff, may be assigned to assist with special program/participant needs (i.e. recreation program, rehab/maintenance exercise program, and internal program committees). * Responsible for keeping areas of patient care clean and safe when participants are on site. * Regularly reports on status and progress of participants to Lead HW and Center Supervisor. * Fulfills other administrative requirements of the job such as reporting, keeping statistical records, making entries in charts using computerized system, attending staff conferences and meetings as directed. * As assigned by Center Supervisor, may act as the Lead Health Worker in the absence of the Lead Healthworker. * Participates in the training and orientation of HWs, volunteers, etc. * Actively participates in and encourages actions that promote good public relations with participants, their families and friends, visitors and the community. * Working for a program that provides services six days a week, may be required to work a flexible schedule, including Saturday. * Provides weekend, morning or afternoon, homecare coverage as able. * May be assigned to assist participants anywhere in the Adult Day Healthcare Center (ADHC). * All other reasonably related jobs as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Training in areas of Certified Nursing Assistance, Home Health, and/or equivalent of experience working with older adults. * Must have one-year experience working with frail or elderly population. * Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team with initiative, imagination, resourcefulness and flexibility. * Knowledge of the community served. * Ability to comprehend complex written material and verbal instructions. * Ability to communicate and speak clearly in English. * Interest and willingness to work in a multilingual, multicultural environment. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Language capability – Spanish, Russian and Chinese preferred. * Computer literacy.
