A Yard Switcher supports Gordon Food Services' (GFS) Distribution Centers by pulling trailers from doors, hooking trailers together according to weight and filling empty doors while staying ahead of the pace of the warehouse.

Pay: You'll start at $20.29 per hour.
Like any job, there are some requirements:
You must be 18 years of age or older (required).
You must have a CDL Class A license and meet DOT requirements for physical health standards.
Two years previous warehouse experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Successfully pass our Hair Follicle Drug Test, Background Check, and Alcohol Screening requirements (Note we do not check your credit score).
High school diploma or GED equivalent (preferred).
Must be able to work holidays as required.

Now about this position:
Set the refrigeration units (inside the trailers) including checking and filling to the appropriate oil level, starting the refrigeration units and monitoring temperature settings.
Perform pre-trip inspection of trailers according to safety procedures, completing and submitting the inspection form daily.
Move the trailer from the shipping dock or receiving dock and replace them with empty trailers.
Typical tools you'll us include: yard truck, a tracker, and a radio.
Fast paced position which requires you be able to stand, walk and climb stairs for extended periods of time.
Requires you to work outdoors, potentially in extreme temperatures and/or snow or rain depending on weather conditions.
Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
The employee must be able to hear (hearing devices are permitted). For your safety, and for those of others on the team, you must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals (i.e. bells, alarms, and horns) that are used to warn employees of the start-up, movement, or approach of equipment (including forklifts, turrets, overhead cranes, conveyors, trucks, and other equipment), mechanical abnormalities, and similar risk situations during operation.
Regularly required to sit and walk so the employee must be mobile.
Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
