A Holmes Lumber (a division of Carter Lumber) Yard Specialist is responsible for providing professional customer service to contractors and do-it-yourselfers by loading customers, building loads and assisting with maintenance of an efficient and clean lumber yard. This is accomplished by assisting customers in selecting and loading items they have purchased along with gathering materials to be delivered. Inventory control, product knowledge and organization skills are all components of this position. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.

Requirements to be Considered for this Position:

  • Previous experience in a customer service environment

  • Friendly, outgoing personality

  • Familiarity with building materials is helpful

  • Ability to participate effectively as a team member

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

Responsibilities of the Position:

Customer Service:

  • Meets and greets contractors and do-it-yourselfers while providing exceptional customer service by assisting with the selection and loading of materials.

  • Accurately pulls and stages materials to be picked up or delivered to ensure schedules are met.

Store Operations:

  • Contributes to maintaining the inventory in the yard by conducting cycle counts, keeping the yard organized, ensuring the correct material is shipped and received.

  • Follows all policies and procedures in the yard including sales, inventory and safety.

  • Properly uses and maintains all equipment.

Knowledge & Training:

  • Identifies personal growth needs and learning opportunities.

  • Completes required orientation and safety training.

  • Commits to continued learning on products, packages, procedures and more.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The primary function of the Design Quality Assurance (DQA) team is working with product development teams to assure the quality, safety, and efficacy of products from development through commercialization. DQA is responsible for delivering timely, fact-based decisions focused on assuring quality products, and working with functional group peers and managers to define Design Assurance related deliverables to ensure successful scale up to commercial scale manufacturing. DQA is responsible for assessing critical to quality attributes and ensuring the manufacturability of new formulations and products with Research & Development, Technical Centers and Plant operations. In addition, DQA supports the plant quality assurance, operations and Third-Party Manufacturing groups to ensure ongoing successful manufacturing of products and supporting investigations into quality related issues and trends. The Design Quality Assurance Project Leader should exhibit excellent communication, organization and leadership skills. Responsibilities include: * Provide support to North America operations by coordinating Design Assurance tasks for events in a timely manner. * Develop investigation process for Design Assurance including establishing event risk categories to enable setting timelines and prioritization of work and developing forms and communication tools * Lead Design Assurance investigation tasks to resolve and troubleshoot multiple plant/across product line events. * Support resolution and approval of quality records within Design Assurance during event investigations. * Establish a process to communicate with Complaints team to put products on a proactive watch list. * Monitor product complaints and identify and resolve trends within product design categories. * Identify and implement continuous improvement activities related to event investigation processes. * Partner with plant sites to provide feedback and recommendations for site proactive data monitoring. * Partner with plant sites for efficiency improvements. * Maintain relevant documentation such as DQA policies and procedures and assure these documents are current and compliant to internal policies and regulations. Bachelor of Science degree in technical or science field required. In addition, the DQA Project Leader should: * Have at least 3-5 years of experience in the food/nutritional industry and experience in the scale-up and commercialization of product innovations. * Display working knowledge of applicable product regulations and policies * Have knowledge of quality management systems and regulatory requirements. * Have experience in performing/leading investigations and working independently through troubleshooting issues. * Have proficient technical writing skills; able to effectively and concisely communicate issues. * Demonstrate the ability effectively organize and communicate technical information. * Demonstrate the ability to successfully interact and communicate with all organizational levels internally. * Demonstrate the ability to manage several activities / projects at once, to organize / prioritize work, to meet deadlines and to prepare plans and reports. * Must be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy and analytical thinking.
