Yard Helper

Description:

The Yard Helper shall assist in the functions of helping the Forklift Operator with the transfer of material through the stages of operation in accordance with plant policies and procedures by placing boards in between layers of pipes on the racks. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant cooperation during his/her shift using good housekeeping practices.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment; hot when weather is hot and cold when weather is cold. Greasy, dirty and noisy environment.

Work involves lifting, pulling and/or pushing of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Standing and walking considerable distances. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

1.Qualifications:

1.1. A High School diploma or equivalent.

1.2. Basic English reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.

1.3. Manual dexterity required for operating hand tools and hand held technical devices.

1.4. Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and yard instruments is a plus.

1.5. Must be able to work with a flexible or rotating schedule which may require over-time and weekends when needed.

2.Responsibilities:

2.1. Assist in the transfer and production operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures.

2.2. Follow the Forklift operator's instruction during transfers and housekeeping operations.

2.3. Employee will assist in the verification of all loading and unloading of material for quality assurance.

2.4. Assists in Inventory Control for verification of counts and material.

2.5. The employee is responsible for the assisting of racking of material per instruction.

2.6. Communicating to Yard Lead-Man any problems with material, racks, or trucks.

2.7. Ensure the equipment to be operated is in good conditions.

2.8. Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.

3.Activities:

3.1. Employee must report to Yard Lead-man for production or Yard Supervisor for special projects on daily tasks.

3.2. Assist Forklift Operator with loading, unloading and verification of material.

3.3. Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and keep it free and clear of debris.

3.4. Perform 5 racks verification daily.

3.5. Complete the PIT checklist on a daily basis.

3.6. This position may require operating a powered industrial equipment (Buggie).

3.7. Other duties as assigned.
