Essential Duties

1.Collaborating with unit leadership, develop and implement production policies that ensure safe working conditions and high organizational and artistic standards. 2. Assume primary responsibility for production oversight for student- and faculty-produced events in a range of venues.

As designated, oversee or assist with professional touring productions in a range of venues. 3. Hire, advise, and/or supervise student and professional production staff for student- and faculty-produced productions. For a wide range of performance and/or film events, advise students, faculty, and staff throughout the production process in areas including, but not limited to, safety, production planning, budgeting, technical design, and design. 4.

Evaluate student capabilities and, as needed, train, and mentor students and arrange/provide supervision during production activity. 5. Hire and manage temporary staff and vendors as needed to support productions. 6. Coordinate with internal (Yale) and external partners including safety organizations. 7.

Oversee production facilities, equipment, schedules. 8. As designated, lead workshops in production skills. 9. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or the equivalent combination of education or experience.

Position Focus:

At CCAM, we investigate intersections of art, science, and technology through research, programs, and exhibitions. A unit of Yale College Arts, CCAM guides students, faculty, and collaborators in expanding and exploring all manner of projects.

Reporting to the Director of the CCAM, the Film Advisor supports student filmmakers, both in and out of the curriculum, through advising, by the daily implementation of programing, and by providing operational support. Above all, we are looking for someone who wants to foster a community where everyone belongs. Advise undergraduate film projects, both curricular and extra-curricular.

Assume a general advisory role for 20-30 undergraduate filmmaking projects each year, as well as for graduate filmmaking projects as needed. This role will be complimentary to the role of the faculty advisor when one is in place. Collaborating with other Yale College Arts staff, work to create safe conditions and high organizational and artistic standards for undergraduate filmmaking.

For a wide range of filmmaking projects, advise students throughout the production process in areas including, but not limited to, safety, liability, production planning, budgeting, scriptwriting, and selection and use of video, lighting, and audio equipment. Evaluate student capabilities and, as needed, train, and mentor filmmaking students during the pre-production and production processes. Establish and/or develop supportive and collaborative relationships between the CCAM and registered undergraduate film organizations (e.g. Yale Film Alliance, Bulldog Productions). Familiarize student filmmaking teams with CCAM resources and with relevant Yale College and Yale University regulations and policies.

Provide guidance to and collaborate with internal partners such as: Head of College offices in residential colleges (funders). Yale Fire Code Compliance.

Environmental Health and Safety. Yale College Arts. Office of Public Affairs and Communications (re: permitting). Oversee CCAM filmmaking facilities, equipment.

Oversee maintenance of production related equipment housed at CCAM. Assist CCAM Assistant Director in scheduling CCAM events and facilities. Manage maintenance and use of CCAM video editing stations.

Contribute to CCAM workshop series, leading several workshops per year as appropriate. Lead documentation and online archiving of CCAM workshop series and other special events.

Other duties as assigned. 12-month position. Some nights and weekends.
