DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION Perform a wide variety of technical procedures, requiring independent judgment and ingenuity. Requires initiative to apply appropriate skills to facilitate a diagnosis.

May be assigned independent responsibilities by Department Director.

Proper care of the client in accordance with the departmental and hospital policies and procedures is required. May be responsible for assigned areas to assume responsibilities of supervision or instruction to department personnel as determined by Department Director.

Practices infection control and body substance isolation in clinical practice in compliance with departmental and hospital policies and OSHA standards. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Demonstrates proper operation of PACS, HIS and RIS computer systems.

Demonstrates ability to operate and trouble shoot CR, DR and PACs applications. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.) Experience: Minimum of 1 year X-Ray tech experience preferred.

Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have completed formal AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program. License, Certification


Registration:


MALIC - Massachusetts Radiology License ARRT(RTR) - Registered Technologist Radiography CPR - CPR is required. Other Requirements:

Ability to function independently and proficiently in a high stress, work intensive environment. Must be able to move and lift patients, equipment and supplies on a regular basis.

Must be able to operate complex radiographic equipment, including C-arm.

Must have working knowledge of film processing and laser imaging results. Ability to stand/walk up to 6 hours per 8-hour shift.

Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. intermittently throughout shift.

Ability to lift over 100 lbs. without assistance and/or mechanical aid. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use of prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.

Ability to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner. Proficiency in Cat Scan preferred.
