General Summary:
An X-Ray Technician with Medical Assistant experience performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the practice of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. In addition, performance of routine radiology studies typical for a physician practice is expected. The duties of Radiology Technician vary from office to office, depending on the location and size of the practice and the practitioners specialty.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Provides administrative support including, but not limited to, the following:
Takes patients medical history, information pertaining to the patients visit to the doctor and record vital signs of patients to help the doctor with diagnosis
Prepares patients for physician evaluation
Assists physician with evaluation and treatment of patient
Assists physician with special procedures
Performs basic radiologist tests and oversees the production of x-rays
Maintains accurate record of all x-ray films to include appropriate log entries, x-ray documentation for jackets and accurate filing of films
Coordinates the reading of all x-ray films with physician
Relays information to patients regarding preparation of laboratory tests and examinations Arranges examining room instruments and equipment and keeps the examining rooms neat and clean
Initiating and maintaining correspondence with patients and insurance companies
Respects and maintains privacy and dignity of patients and assures patient confidentiality at all times
2.Other related responsibilities:
Represents the clinic in a professional manner in person, in telephone conversations, and in written correspondence
Performs basic functions such as photocopying, scanning and faxing
Any other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required within one (1) year of hire. Candidates who do not possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent at time of hire will be provided the opportunity to enroll in a GED/HSEA program as a condition of employment. New hires will be provided one (1) year from date of hire to successfully complete a GED program and obtain their HSEA. *
Relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum two years experience in an x-ray department in a hospital or physician s office
1-3 experience as an x-ray technician performing diagnostic radiography
Certification by American Registry of Radiographic Technologist license and New Jersey state license
Knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook is required
CPR Certification approved by AHA
