Job Description: Responsibilities, Administering radiation therapy treatments, including positioning patients and adjusting machinery to ensure proper treatment is received Monitoring patients’ health during treatment to ensure they are responding well to treatment and to identify any adverse reactions to treatment Taking and recording X-rays of patients’ bodies to determine the location of tumors for radiation treatment planning Collecting data about each patient’s condition and treatment progress, which may be used to develop new treatments or improve existing ones Educating patients about their treatment options and recovery time frames Providing emotional support to patients who are receiving treatment for cancer or other life-threatening illnesses Supervising technicians who assist with administering treatments Reporting any safety concerns to the appropriate staff member Explaining the effects of radiation treatment to patients in terms of its impact on their health and wellbeing Job Requirements A radiation oncology nurse typically needs to have the following qualifications:
Education:
The minimum education requirement for a radiation oncology nurse is a diploma or an associate degree in nursing. BLS from AHA. Certification: Basic Life Support
