Are you a senior leader with the desire to disrupt current health and safety practices and truly augment and extend the approaches used to reduce risks associated with musculoskeletal injuries? Have you ever wanted to be a leader or be part of revolutionary projects that you read about other organizations doing? Do you want to solve the problems of today with the solutions of the future, and predict future problems before they occur? Do you believe that science, technology and a passion for excellence can drive significant reduction in incidents through reducing human error, optimizing physical capability, and enhancing health, comfort, safety, effectiveness and efficiency in the workplace? Now is the time to step forward.

We are looking for a Principal Ergonomist to be the WorldWide (WW) single-threaded leader accountable for our long term strategy and operational direction to leverage science and technology, along with proven traditional strategies to reduce exposure to musculoskeletal risk, as well as reduce frequency and severity of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). In this role you will provide WW technical expertise applying a variety of scientific techniques, standardized assessments and problem-solving skills to drive innovative solutions for MSDs. You will functionally lead, design and implement global ergonomic programs focused holistically on the risk factors that contribute to MSD risks (biomechanics, psychosocial and individual elements). You will lead and work collaboratively with EHS field operations, Operations, Engineering, HR, Workers' Compensation and other stakeholders to develop risk controls that are fit for purpose and are effective. This includes working closely with WW Engineering ergonomist responsible for design, WW Human Factors Engineer as well as ergonomic and injury prevention specialists who work in the field.

You must be innovative and think outside of the traditional paradigm for enhancing human performance and human interface with equipment to prevent injury. You will be able to demonstrate a true passion for new and emerging technology with the ability to conceptualize novel applications to benefit intended and unintended end-users, and the confidence to challenge assumptions, conventions, and the status quo in terms of what could be possible. Your role will be worldwide, which will drive significant improvements across all our businesses and geographies. You will need to be able to travel both within USA and internationally. The role is based in HQ in Seattle.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Initiate, formulate, and develop multi-disciplinary/stakeholder projects targeting reduction of musculoskeletal risks and enhancing human performance.

  • Apply theoretical principles into real life complex problems using modeling, data and other methods to design to optimize well-being and overall performance which directly influences reduction of high frequency or high severity incidents.

  • Take a systems approach, considering the broader context of the human in the environment even when focusing on a specific type of interaction and intervention.

  • Be design driven, using data analysis and assessment to provide realistic recommendations and actions.

  • Research and collect background and historical multi-source information specific to topical areas using both internal data sources along with being actively aware of external trends.

  • Be passionate about using data to facilitate and drive business decisions. You will identify key trends through deep dive analysis (including statistical modelling) and establish testable project hypotheses.

  • Develop or implement research, investigation, or analysis protocols.

  • Work across multiple teams such as operations, technology designers and engineers to analyze and evaluate data, conduct evaluations, and generate concepts, design specifications, and usability goals.

  • Develop white papers, at executive level.

  • Stay current with trends in technology, industry and legislation that could necessitate adjustments or provide improvement to our ergonomic programs and initiatives.
