To fuel our continued growth, we are seeking a WW Director of Hardware Category Management reporting to the General Manager of Category Management. This leader will be responsible for both our 1st Party and 3rd Party Category Management teams and will be accountable for product assortment line logic, go to market pricing decisions, seasonal promotion strategy, top line revenue and gross margin for each category.

  • Delivering annual and quarterly revenue commitments

  • Managing the P&L and delivering on annual and quarterly gross margin commitments

  • Establish a repeatable and predictable business planning ROB so that the team is proactively planning and driving the business

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience in retail, ecommerce, data science, research, marketing or business-related roles

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 6+ years experience in retail, ecommerce, data science, research, marketing or business-related roles

  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 5+ years experience in retail, ecommerce, data science, research, marketing or business-related roles.

  • 1+ year(s) people management experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • 9+ years experience in retail, ecommerce, data science, research, marketing or business-related roles

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Science, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field AND 8+ years experience in retail, ecommerce, data science, research, marketing or business-related roles

  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 7+ years experience in retail, ecommerce, data science, research, marketing or business-related roles.

  • 7+ years experience in go to market (GTM), marketing strategy, business planning, or similar roles.

  • 7+ years experience in integrated, digital or product marketing management.

  • 3+ years people management experience.

  • 4+ years project/vendor management experience.

Business Strategy and Planning

  • Implements strategy for determining the product and/or service assortment and selection of current and future products sold for both Microsoft and third-party companies, and procures these products for resale. Leverages industry expertise of market conditions to determine product mix, and aligns with customer and market understanding to set parameters for product needs, pricing, etc. Meets with suppliers to receive additional information about products and independently drive decisions on product selection.

  • Full category P&L responsibilities.

  • Serves as an expert negotiator, driving and influencing pricing and terms with internal and external partners (e.g., around market and competitive conditions, price of the product, cost of production). Demonstrates understanding of how products are made, what materials are used, and how/why products are priced the way they are to be able to negotiate across categories. Leverages final retail price when negotiating for products.

  • Integrates customer feedback and customer satisfaction metrics to identify trends across products and markets.

  • Drives partnerships across multiple Business Groups, Product Marketing, and Business Planning teams to develop and execute on go-to-market (GTM), launch activities, customer segmentation, and/or promotional strategies that drive revenue growth via customer engagement and monetization for products across markets and/or globally. Aligns multi-year planning and execution frameworks and rhythms of business (ROB), and sets expectations and objectives for content strategies across multiple products within the same category.

  • Provides guidance on, reviews, and leads the delivery of forecasts on revenue and budgets, informs explanations of variance to forecasts or budgets for one or more product categories sold in stores. Shares financial performance assessment and revenue outlook with stakeholders and internal executive partners (e.g., Corporate Vice Presidents [CVPs]).

  • Oversees and leverages a regular rhythm of business (ROB) of reporting and business review meetings to drive shared understanding of business performance across markets as well as alignment on strategies and actions needed to maintain and improve category or market/regional performance. Ensures that their team seeks clarification on requests from other teams and shares key insights internally with Product Marketing, Sales teams, and/or Business Groups.

About the Role As a Global Hardware Category Manager, you will execute and implement effective sourcing strategies for tablets, phones, IoT devices, personal computers, network and security equipment, autonomy hardware, autonomy sensors, robotic hardware, managed service provider, and value added reseller from initial identification of needs through delivery. You will report into Senior Lead, Finance and Strategy on our sourcing and procurement team in our Finance and Strategy organization. Once our offices reopen, we expect this role to be hybrid with some time in-office and some time remote. You're excited about this opportunity because you will… * Demonstrate an understanding of business requirements and category strategy/ownership * Collaborate with eng, finance, sourcing, security, legal and other cross functional stakeholders * Manage new and existing supply base through sourcing, contracting, renewal cycles etc * Demonstrate an understanding of hardware and cloud computing sourcing and budget impacts * Execute category sourcing strategies, including: * Develop and execute RFI's and RFP's * Document bid events * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop selection criteria and drive supplier selection * Conduct supplier negotiations * Gain alignment from stakeholders * Lead or follow cross-functional, category-based negotiation teams * Implement appropriate supplier risk analysis * Determine KPI measurements for hardware and cloud adoption, usage and sentiment, and deliver reporting to stakeholders across the organization. * Monitor hardware and hardware accessories across the organization for optimal cost-effectiveness, including the elimination of application or department redundancy. * Manage hardware life cycles including the creation of a refresh /renewal calendar; build a documented, collaborative evaluation and certification process; and develop action plans for upcoming refresh / renewal dates. * Use influence to coach teams to independently evaluate with best practices and adopt a value-driven mindset when sourcing and procuring new hardware and accessories. * Optimize purchasing agreements * Develop an overall cost reduction plan, managing category performance versus corporate savings goals and financial models * Implement supplier management programs including metrics, performance goals, and improvement initiatives: * Maintain supplier score cards to measure performance against agreed-upon key performance indicators (KPI's) * Benchmark, track, and analyze annual performance metrics and sourcing trends against commitments on a quarterly basis * Report results to Sourcing team management and members of senior management * Serve as internal point of contact for supplier management and complaint resolution * Actively seek ways to streamline business processes, finding growth or change opportunities within the supply base * Research and share industry category trends and best practices We're excited about you because… * 2+ years of experience in contract development of hardware and hardware related accessories, IT and Security hardware, IoT hardware, autonomy hardware. * 2+ years of experience working with ODM, OEM, Managed Service Providers and Value Added Resellers (VAR) * 5+ years experience in supplier management and negotiations * 5+ years experience developing and executing strategies * Experience collaborating with resources * Direct to OEM experience * Strong negotiation and influencing skills * Experience managing projects and working with cross-functional teams * Strong analytical skills including the ability to distill, synthesize, and draw conclusions from large amounts of data * Demonstrated ability to manage projects requiring frequent communication, organization/time management and problem-solving skills * Intermediate-level skill in Google Suite, Conga/Salesforce, Coupa, inventory management tools and the ability to learn and leverage various tools and systems * A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Engineering or Supply Chain Related Field or Business-plus-experience in category management; or 5+ years in a sourcing or supply chain management role with specific category management experience.
