To fuel our continued growth, we are seeking a WW Director of Hardware Category Management reporting to the General Manager of Category Management. This leader will be responsible for both our 1st Party and 3rd Party Category Management teams and will be accountable for product assortment line logic, go to market pricing decisions, seasonal promotion strategy, top line revenue and gross margin for each category.

  • Delivering annual and quarterly revenue commitments

  • Managing the P&L and delivering on annual and quarterly gross margin commitments

  • Establish a repeatable and predictable business planning ROB so that the team is proactively planning and driving the business

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience in retail, ecommerce, data science, research, marketing or business-related roles

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 6+ years experience in retail, ecommerce, data science, research, marketing or business-related roles

  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 5+ years experience in retail, ecommerce, data science, research, marketing or business-related roles.

  • 1+ year(s) people management experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • 9+ years experience in retail, ecommerce, data science, research, marketing or business-related roles

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Science, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field AND 8+ years experience in retail, ecommerce, data science, research, marketing or business-related roles

  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 7+ years experience in retail, ecommerce, data science, research, marketing or business-related roles.

  • 7+ years experience in go to market (GTM), marketing strategy, business planning, or similar roles.

  • 7+ years experience in integrated, digital or product marketing management.

  • 3+ years people management experience.

  • 4+ years project/vendor management experience.

Business Strategy and Planning

  • Implements strategy for determining the product and/or service assortment and selection of current and future products sold for both Microsoft and third-party companies, and procures these products for resale. Leverages industry expertise of market conditions to determine product mix, and aligns with customer and market understanding to set parameters for product needs, pricing, etc. Meets with suppliers to receive additional information about products and independently drive decisions on product selection.

  • Full category P&L responsibilities.

  • Serves as an expert negotiator, driving and influencing pricing and terms with internal and external partners (e.g., around market and competitive conditions, price of the product, cost of production). Demonstrates understanding of how products are made, what materials are used, and how/why products are priced the way they are to be able to negotiate across categories. Leverages final retail price when negotiating for products.

  • Integrates customer feedback and customer satisfaction metrics to identify trends across products and markets.

  • Drives partnerships across multiple Business Groups, Product Marketing, and Business Planning teams to develop and execute on go-to-market (GTM), launch activities, customer segmentation, and/or promotional strategies that drive revenue growth via customer engagement and monetization for products across markets and/or globally. Aligns multi-year planning and execution frameworks and rhythms of business (ROB), and sets expectations and objectives for content strategies across multiple products within the same category.

  • Provides guidance on, reviews, and leads the delivery of forecasts on revenue and budgets, informs explanations of variance to forecasts or budgets for one or more product categories sold in stores. Shares financial performance assessment and revenue outlook with stakeholders and internal executive partners (e.g., Corporate Vice Presidents [CVPs]).

  • Oversees and leverages a regular rhythm of business (ROB) of reporting and business review meetings to drive shared understanding of business performance across markets as well as alignment on strategies and actions needed to maintain and improve category or market/regional performance. Ensures that their team seeks clarification on requests from other teams and shares key insights internally with Product Marketing, Sales teams, and/or Business Groups.

About the Role As a Global Hardware Category Manager, you will execute and implement effective sourcing strategies for tablets, phones, IoT devices, personal computers, network and security equipment, autonomy hardware, autonomy sensors, robotic hardware, managed service provider, and value added reseller from initial identification of needs through delivery. You will report into Senior Lead, Finance and Strategy on our sourcing and procurement team in our Finance and Strategy organization. Once our offices reopen, we expect this role to be hybrid with some time in-office and some time remote.
