The responsibilities for the Diesel Mechanic are performing truck repair and maintenance work as assigned in accordance with the dealership and factory standards; to adhere to company-wide safety standards, work well within a team, and maintain regular attendance.

This role requires an H.S. diploma or equivalent and Associates degree from a mechanical trade school and/or equivalent work experience; ability to pass a background check, drug screen and motor vehicle report required.

Supervision of others/decision making aptitude (if applicable): * Supervisory responsibilities are required with this position ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITES Personnel: * Train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of all Service Managers. * Develop and administer comprehensive training program. * Encourage Service Manager, Shop Foreman's, and technicians to keep their skills up-to-date through periodic technical training on new systems and components offered by manufacturers. * Implement a performance management process for all staff which includes monitoring the performance of staff on an on-going basis and conducting an annual performance reviews. * Conduct meetings with employees to discuss activities and problems of mutual interest and to develop strategies for a more efficient operation. Management: * Build and sustain effective, positive vendor relationships in order to satisfy our customers, make the most of resources, enhance our standing in our community, and exceed our customer and vendor expectations. * Must enforce and comply with all corporate policies and procedures. * Establishing and reviewing store specific performance targets in profitability, efficiency, employee satisfaction, and customer service and margin improvement. * Strive for harmony and teamwork throughout service employees. * Creates annual Service Department goals and budget, in alignment with the organization's financial and operational objectives. * Develops and executes Service Department marketing plan and monitors monthly to ensure achievement of departmental goals by location. * Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that may affect store relations. * Communicate with dealership employees to keep abreast of customer attitudes, demographics, buying habits, etc. * Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending meetings; educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. * Prepare reports and present them to dealership management as needed, using dealership computer equipment. * Communicate with customers to determine their needs and interests, taking note of the information for reports and future business opportunities. * Be sensitive to and handle consumer complaints. Ascertain and record the facts, i.e. the customer knows the matter will be handled, and forward the customers concerns to the appropriate personal. * Develop, enforce and monitor guidelines for working with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction. * Handle customer complaints immediately and according to the dealership's guidelines. * Possess the authority to hire and fire employees, or give suggestions and recommendations throughout the process of hiring, firing, advancement, promotion, or any other change of status of other employees. * Customarily and regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment to meet the needs of the company, employees, and/or customers. * Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat business * Ensure that the work areas and customer waiting area are kept clean. * Analyze departmental operations and storage layout and revise as needed for maximum effectiveness. * Develop and administer an aggressive and systematic departmental program to produce profit. * Enforce safety requirements, including but not limited to, forklift training and operation, processing of MSDS sheets on all products carried, and OSHA right-to-know. * Analyze sales, gross expense, and inventory on a monthly basis to maintain profit goals. * Assist with customers when need arises. * Adhere to work schedule and maintain regular attendance. * Performs Wallwork Inc.-wide duties as requested by the designated supervisor. * Upholds Wallwork Inc. ethical standards and demonstrate the behavioral and service expectations as defined in our policies and procedures.
