The STEM Literacy: Worms to Widgets Project will sustain existing campus and community efforts on the Palouse, with a focus on rural Whitman County, to strengthen STEM education opportunities for low-income Pre-K through 8th-grade youth in current after-school programming.
As a part of this project, the WACC AmeriCorps VISTA position will work to leverage campus-community partnerships to sustain opportunities for WSU students who provide STEM programming for low-income rural youth. The VISTA member joins the statewide Washington Campus Compact (WACC) VISTA team whose members increase the capacity of campus-community partnerships by leveraging campus resources and community assets to address critical issues of educational access and success, mental health and food security. Washington Campus Compact is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our national service programs.
