The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) is searching for a Writer/Editor who wants to join a collaborative and dynamic team of talented professionals who are passionate about their field and SfN's mission to advance the understanding of the brain and nervous system. The Writer/Editor will draft, write, and edit articles and other content. They will also assist with producing multimedia in collaboration with other internal teams for member communications outreach vehicles. This role is ideal for a junior writer looking to take the next step in their career.
Contributes story ideas in editorial process.
Writes and edits member communications for various vehicles.
Coordinates the text review process with internal colleagues.
Edits member communications content to comply with AP style and SfN style and tone.
Ensures appropriate messaging for brand management.
Assists in repurposing multimedia content in collaboration with Multimedia Associate for use in various communications vehicles.
Writes and develops storyboards and scripts for video projects, ensuring adherence to SfN brand, tone and style.
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication or other relevant field required.
2 years of related experience with at least 1 year of creating/writing/editing articles.
Exceptional verbal, writing and editing skills;
Experience creating news stories and coordinating internal messages across multiple communications platforms
Superior organizational skills and attention to detail;
Collaborative style to work effectively with colleagues, other departments, and scientific reviewers.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a flexible manner to address changing needs and incorporate feedback from multiple stakeholders.
