Job Summary:

The Division of the Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a talented, evocative writer to support our mission of uplifting and promoting the academic arts departments, affiliated partners, and the arts in general across campus.

As a member of the Division's Integrated Marketing & Communication team, this position will be expected to interact and consult with academic, outreach, and communications staff around the university to create compelling audience-focused content which works across a variety of media including websites, newsletters, brochures, posters, ads, reports and magazines. All materials will amplify the mission of the Division of the Arts with the overarching objective of promoting the university across campus, the community, the state, and the world as part of our overall marketing and communication goals.

Responsibilities:

Produces content in support of the goals, mission, and vision of the designated work unit.

  • 60% Authors a range of materials for use by internal and/or external audiences
  • 5% Consults with internal and/or external stakeholders to ensure accuracy
  • 5% Obtains source approval of content and meets publication deadlines
  • 10% Creates and implements communication campaigns that align with work unit or program strategies
  • 10% Develops targeted marketing communications for new programs, events, posters, and social media posts
  • 5% Provides assistance with graphic design, social media, and website upkeep
  • 5% Additional responsibilities and projects as assigned

Qualifications:

Well-qualified candidates will have:

  • 3-5 years professional writing experience
  • Strong skills in writing for a variety of audiences across multiple platforms
  • Working knowledge of AP style
  • Robust knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office and Google Drive
  • Proficient knowledge and skills in Adobe Creative Suite and Word Press
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines, both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Solid interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and sustain relationships with internal partners and external stakeholders

Outstanding candidates will demonstrate a creative spark, the ability to paint a picture with words, and an aptitude for finding and telling great stories.

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $65,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
