The Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) is a customer-oriented agency responsible for managing various business-related functions throughout state government. Under the direction of Governor Rick Scott and DMS Executive Leadership Team, the agency oversees the real estate, procurement, human resources, group insurance, retirement, telecommunications, private prisons, and fleet and federal property assistance programs utilized throughout Floridas state government.
DMS is relied upon to establish, maintain, and improve the business processes used by state employees to create a better, not bigger, government.
DMS facilitates the delivery of these programs and services and provides tools and training to bolster the efficiency and effectiveness of the states workforce. It is against this backdrop that DMS strives to demonstrate its motto, We serve those who serve Florida. Under the leadership of DMS Secretary Erin Rock, DMS employees embody four pillars on a daily basis: establishing a process-oriented mindset; challenging the status quo; creating efficiencies; and respecting state employees.
This position is responsible for developing and editing diverse types of written communications such as press releases, newsletters, statutory reports, training materials, executive presentations, video scripts, and social media posts. The Writer regularly interacts with members of the DMS senior and executive leadership teams, members of the press, and various other external stakeholders.

The Writer responsibilities will primarily consist of the following:
Work closely with the Communications Director to positively promote DMS initiatives through internal and external communications.
Edit all communication materials, including internal and external reports, news releases, social media campaigns, newsletters, and other publications.
Research and produce clear, concise educational and promotional written content related to agency initiatives and programs on behalf of DMS and the Governors Office.
Collaborate with DMS divisions to assist with internal and external marketing campaigns.
Monitor press clippings related to DMS initiatives and share with DMS senior leadership team daily.
Collaborate with Communications team members to conceptualize and produce visually and rhetorically appealing graphics and texts.
Provide courteous, timely, and accurate customer service when engaging with members of the press, the public, and internal customers.
Aid in the development of social media strategies that enhance the agencys social media presence on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
Field correspondence from constituents and media representatives.
Lead special projects and events that require communications expertise
Maintain a high standard of professionalism as a member of DMS Office of the Secretary.

Possession of a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in communications, public relations, writing, marketing, or a related field.
Experience working in a professional communications office is highly desired.
Experience working with members of the media is highly desired.
