Responsible for editing both minor and major proposal submittals in response to solicitations from various domestic and international government agencies. Primarily responsible for ensuring proposals are well-written, accurate and compliant with the requirements of the proposal request. The range of submittals includes both formal and unsolicited proposals. The Proposal Editor proofreads and edits proposal content, checking for consistency, clarity, appropriateness and persuasiveness of the material. This position typically works under general supervision and direction.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads efforts to provide editing and proofreading of proposals in support of business development efforts.
Edits draft and final text submitted by proposal team members to establish consistency of writing style throughout the proposal. Responsibilities vary depending upon proposal magnitude.
Provides editing support to other division projects, including websites, marketing collateral and customer submittals.
Reviews and analyzes RFP compliance matrices, outlines, style guides, and storyboard templates as necessary.
Provides direction and training to the proposal team on appropriate writing styles.
Interfaces with technical professionals, proposal partners and other SMEs in the writing, editing, and publication of various types of documents including proposals, manuals, reports, plans, training material, and presentations.
Recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, and content in order to generate documents that are easy to read and understandable.
Provides quality assurance checks to ensure that all document deliverables are compliant with the submittal requirements and support the standards and procedures set forth in Company policies, procedures, and practices.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Four-year college degree in Journalism, English or Business plus a minimum of two years related experience. Understanding of and experience with the DOD procurement process and regulations. Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Project, Visio, SharePoint and desktop publishing software. Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks. Requires a command of English grammar, spelling, and composition and the ability to edit a document and significantly improve quality by identifying deficiencies in grammar, spelling, punctuation, proper usage, company standards, corporate style, format, and accuracy. Ability to work as an integral member of a team and proactively assist others.
