The politics writer will co-author a daily newsletter with Chris Cillizza about politics, policy and the personalities currently in the seats of power in Washington. The writer will join the staff of The Point, a news and analysis section within CNN Politics that provides audiences with what they need to know about the top political stories of the day. The Point also seeks to explore digital analytical storytelling through a variety of mediums -- from text to GIFs to video. The ideal candidate will be able to reliably produce the daily newsletter but will also have interest in other areas of politics coverage, reporting and analysis - producing multiple other pieces weekly. The writer must be willing to write quickly and produce copy that is clean, engaging and fun. The writer must be a self-starter, enthusiastic and creative.
What will you be doing?
Co-author a daily newsletter, as well as additional written pieces for The Point
Think of ways to better serve newsletter readers by coming up with new content sections or other ways to create an interactive experience
Monitor news headlines to find stories The Point should be covering
Generate story ideas
What do we need from you?
Ideal candidates will have minimum 2+ years of editorial experience
Strong research and editorial skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast, high-pressure environment
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
