WRF Operator/Mechanic
ABOUT THIS POSITION:
EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $52,785.00 - 70,481.00
WRF Operator/Mechanic I/II ($52,785-$64,662), WRF Operator/Mechanic III ($57,535-$70,481) and WRF Operator/Mechanic IV ($62,714-$76,824) Depends on years of experience and certifications.
WORK LOCATION: 300 Pristine Waters Drive, Apex, NC 27502
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm, In the office

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Performs intermediate work completing a variety of operational and maintenance duties as well as a variety of chemical, biological and microbiological tests in the laboratory designed to produce safe treatment and disposal of domestic and commercial waste materials; monitoring the plant's operation through observation, mechanical readings and the results of standard chemical and biological tests and making necessary adjustments in the process as conditions or test results dictate; keeping records of work activities and also includes a variety of equipment, grounds, and facility maintenance.
A SAMPLE OF THE ESSENTIALS:
Makes regular tours of plant and checks bar screens, motors, digesters, generators, pumps, clarifiers, chlorinators, and other equipment for proper functioning.
Records data from various meters gauges and dials; logs daily, weekly, and monthly activities.
Performs general preventive and scheduled maintenance work such as greasing bearings, changing oil, belts and coolants and related visual inspections of equipment; performs minor maintenance repairs.
Regulates and adjusts motors, pumps, blowers, valves and other apparatus to meet changing operating conditions.
Performs routine grounds and building maintenance including mowing, cleaning, and painting.
Collects water and wastewater samples for laboratory.
Performs a variety of standardized laboratory tests to determine Ph, settleability, ammonia nitrogen, fecal coli form.
Operates Tanker truck to transport Biosolids.
Reports to work during emergencies and inclement weather to ensure proper plant operation.
Performs related tasks as required.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Position requires a High School Diploma or GED and <1 year of experience (minimal), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possession of a Wastewater Operator's Grade I level certificate from the State of North Carolina within 6 months of hire.
Possession of appropriate and valid North Carolina commercial driver's license.

Working knowledge of the operating characteristics and maintenance requirement of wastewater treatment plants.
Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and permitting requirements.
Working knowledge of the occupational hazards of the work and of necessary safety precautions.
General mathematical and computer skills.
Ability to understand and follow moderately complex oral and written instructions.
Ability to read meters, charts, and technical manuals and drawings accurately and to maintain records of shift operations.
Ability to detect flaws in the operation of mechanical equipment and to determine proper remedial measures.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and superiors.
