Description:
New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital is affiliated with Weill Cornell Medicine, an Ivy League medical school that is among the nation's best in patient care, medical education, and research. The Hospital is also a member of the NYP/Regional Hospital Network, which provides access to top-ranking physicians and comprehensive resources, including some of the best thought leaders in the medical field.
In this role, you will be part of a team of enthusiastic and knowledgeable Wound, Ostomy Care Specialists. Each member of the team operates on a high level of autonomy and is responsible for delivery of patient care and consultations for patients with wounds and ostomies. WOC nurses collaborate with unit leadership and staff RNs by recommending appropriate treatment and prevention plans, while coaching, and mentoring staff in wound and ostomy care. Through our Skin Champions council, our team supports and further mentors staff RNs who have a vested interest in preventing pressure injuries on their respective units. WOC nurses are given a seat at the decision making table and we participate in policy and product review regularly to ensure that practice is evidence based. You will regularly evaluate patient outcomes, and participate in initiatives focused on improving quality and performance. Our team collaborates on all aspects of care and although we promote individual practice, we work together with the common goal to promote patient safety.
