POSITION SUMMARY:# Coordinates, oversees and delivers patient care system-wide using an interdisciplinary approach, utilizing the nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.# Directs and provides patient teaching activities.# Maintains standards of professional nursing practices.# Documents complete and accurate patient information in compliance with Patient Services Department policy and other regulatory agency requirements.# Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental and divisional nursing philosophy and objectives, as well as, Health System initiatives.# Coordinates family involvement in assessment and treatment of the patient.


EDUCATION


/TRAINING: Bachelors degree in nursing required.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Current RN licensure to practice in the State of Illinois and required certification for respective nursing departments.# Bi-annual CPR certification required. Specialty certification in area of concentration preferred.

Non-Invasive Cardiology:# CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.# ACLS required within one year of hire. Cath Lab:# ACLS certification required within one year of hire. Emergency Department:# Bi-annual CPR certification required, which is required to be renewed by the recommended renewal date as stated on the card.# RN must obtain the following certifications within 6 months of employment:# ACLS (maintain), PALS (maintain) and CPI.# RN must also obtain and maintain the following certifications within 18 months of employment:# ENPC, TNCC and ECRN.

Heart Hospital Nursing Units:# Heart Hospital RN must obtain ACLS with in one year of hire. 9th Floor:# ACLS within one year of hire. Special Care Nursery/Mother Baby:# NRP by end of orientation. L#D:# ACLS and NRP by end of orientation.

Float Pool:# ACLS and PALS within one year of hire, and NRP if floating to Mother Baby. PACU: ACLS and PALS by the end of orientation. Mobile Health Unit:

Must possess active driver#s license and be approved to drive mobile health van. CFMH/SNU:# CPI within 6 months of hire. Surgical Oncology:

UW Health Chemotherapy course completion within six months of hire EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required.# Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in a caring, considerate and concerned manner.# Willingness to accept responsibility.# Ability to direct ancillary and assistive staff and organize work assignments.# Leadership skills essential to the position.# Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all customers of the organization.# Ability to transition between facilities based on the needs of the health system.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Demonstrates use of the nursing process in the delivery of individualized plan of patient care. Demonstrates critical thinking skills and exercises nursing judgment in evaluating patient care situations.

Demonstrates effective documentation and communication skills. Promotes safety and infection control procedures. Provides care and education incorporating age-specific, cultural and spiritual needs of the patient and significant other into the plan of care.

Performs all aspects of care in an environment that optimizes patient and environmental safety and in accordance with applicable laws, and compliance efforts. Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all customers of the department and organization.# Acts as a patient advocate, protecting patient rights, dignity and privacy. # # For Non-Invasive Cardiology Only: # Provide direct patient care which includes triage, procedure preparation, intra and post- procedure recovery phases.
