WOUND CARE REGISTERED NURSE

Shriners Hospitals for Children-Galveston is the leader in the fields of acute burn injury treatment and rehabilitation. We are seeking a Registered Nurse in our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) recipient of the Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award. The RN provides wound care to pediatric patients who have sustained burn injury. The nurse will:

  • provide extensive specialized wound care
  • work with medical staff to synthesize a plan for treatment and dressing application
  • provide for effective pain management
  • provide patient/family education in wound care, dressing application and identifying critical changes in patient status

The Wound Care Registered Nurse is an integral team member who serves as a patient advocate and champions excellence in wound care and patient education.

Job Requirements

Required Education:

ADN required; BSN preferred

Required License/Certification:

Texas RN license in good standing. WOCN preferred

Training and Experience
2 years nursing experience required; wound care experience preferred

Skills and Knowledge

Demonstrates clinical competence; strong teamwork and customer service skills required.

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Work schedule for this position incudes 3 / 12 hour shifts per week.
