Purpose of this position

The purpose of this position is to follow facility policies and procedures to implement treatment orders; to assess resident treatment needs and take appropriate action and to participate in supervision of care provided to residents.

Job Description:

  • Provide clinical supervision to nursing assistants.

  • Attend staff meetings and in-service classes as required.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary team and rehabilitation meetings as required.

  • Instruct nursing assistants in proper, preventative safety measures and use of adaptive equipment to meet residents' needs.

  • Use and supervise the use of equipment and supplies efficiently and in a cost-effective manner.

  • Counsel supervised staff and recommend disciplinary action to Director of Nursing Service.

  • Compile information for facility committees as instructed.

  • Administer treatments according to the physician's order and accurately record treatments administered and weekly progress notes.

  • Be responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision.

  • Follow Residents' Rights policies at all times.

  • Document resident care provided and resident's response or lack of response to treatment provided.

  • Assess and report changes in residents' condistion including development of decubitus to physician, charge nurse, Nursing Supervisor, Director of Nursing, and take follow up action as necessary.

  • Assess each resident's skin condition weekly, and as necessary including stage, size (measurements), sites, depth, color. drainage and odor of each condition.

  • Assess resident needs and initiate development of individualized care plans.

  • Review and update resident care plans as necessary and as assigned.

  • Provide direct resident care, in addition to treatment, as necessary.

  • Give daily instruction to Nursing Assistants regarding care related to treatment.

  • Assume Quality Assurance duties as assigned.

  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information.

  • Consistently work cooperative with residents, nursing personnel, community agencies and ancillary personnel.

  • Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.

  • Assume accountability for data contained in the employees' handbook.

  • Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.

  • Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor.

  • Observe infection control procedures.

  • Be responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision.

  • Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.

  • Come to work in neat, clean attire and consistently present an appropriate professional appearance.

  • Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents' representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants and ancillary service provider

While senior care has long been an Omnicare specialty, we also serve other targeted populations. The Field Nurse Consultant, RN is responsible for delivery of clinical services and education to our clients to further develop client relationships, to aid in retention and expansion of existing business, and help to ensure execution of contract covenants. This role will also assist with onboarding of new clients and some facility level issue resolution. * Build strong client relationships by consistently delivering client interactions that develop trust and show value * Evaluate regulatory compliance and determine clinical education needs for our clients as it relates to pharmacy services * Conduct quality assurance audits to aid clients with preparation for successful, compliant state surveys * Identify and provide recommendations regarding deficiencies and opportunities around drug inventories, storage, and distribution * Provide Quality Reviews and other Omnicare nursing consultant services * Deliver ongoing clinical training to facility staff * Manage resolution of client issues and requests * Assist with activities associated in onboarding new facilities such as collection of resident information and medical records; scheduling, attending, and some facilitation of facility staff training; informing pharmacy of facility needs; serving as single point of contact for facility throughout onboarding process * Operate with strong business acumen and industry knowledge, remaining conscious of industry trends Required Qualifications * At least five (5) years of recent nursing experience that may include direct patient care, physical assessment, clinical education, and group in-servicing * Excellent customer service skills, knowing the appropriate time to be consultative vs. solve a problem or fill a need * Proven project and time management skills; ability to track and manage issues, ensure the right teams are engaged, and facilitate comprehensive and timely issue resolution * Ability to work independently and creatively solve problems when dealing with a multitude of variables * Track record of performing under pressure, being flexible with schedules and adapting to changing dynamics * Effective communication skills * Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with a focus on Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Web applications * Ability to travel regularly, up to 80% Preferred Qualifications * Long Term Care industry experience * Multi-facility clinical experience * Director/Assistant Director of Nursing experience Education Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing with current, unrestricted license Business Overview It's a new day in health care.
