WorldStrides, a global experiential learning and travel company, seeks multiple interns for summer of 2024 for its paid professional diversity internship program. This engaging and meaningful internship offers exposure and direct experience within an assigned WorldStrides' functional area and/or business unit. Education and personal growth are the heart of WorldStrides' mission, which is the blueprint of the program. This program applies ingenuity, creativity, and analytical skills in identifying and evaluating new business opportunities while assisting in ongoing business development initiatives across a variety of departments, including Marketing, Product Delivery, Sales, and Information Technology.

Ideal candidates are those who identify as members of historically underrepresented groups seeking a paid internship program, including Black, African American, Hispanic, Asian, Latinx, and/or Indigenous students, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. First generation college/university students, veterans or ROTC students, students with disabilities, and community college students are also encouraged to apply.

Eligibility

  • At the time of application, must be enrolled in a college or university as an undergraduate, graduate, or have graduated from college within the past six months. High school students are ineligible.

  • Possess unrestricted work authorization and meet full work availability (40 hours per week for 10 weeks).

  • Minimum one year demonstrated leadership experience.

  • Passion for delivering an outstanding service experience.

  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrated strong written and organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with technology.

  • Proven ability to function effectively in a team environment.

  • Willing to contribute to WorldStrides' culture of sustainability, diversity, equity and inclusion with team members and program participants.

Job Responsibilities

  • Learn the overall concept of WorldStrides including the brand, customer, and all other aspects of service.

  • Develop understanding of key components of corporate social responsibility as it relates to WorldStrides values and mission.

  • Accepts designated, business-focus projects to research, propose ideas and solutions, and present final project during the internship.

  • Engage with customers or clients and gather the voice of the customer as required by job function.

  • Provide suggestions to management for improving customer and internal processes.

  • Learn and becomes proficient on internal software systems as needed.

  • Assist in creating performance reports or tracking metrics as needed.

  • Work with cross functional stakeholders across the business, including Project Managers, Subject Matter Experts, Senior Leadership, and the Executive Team to ensure quality and timely delivery of projects.

  • Support company policies and management decisions with a sense of urgency and professionalism.

  • Seek out and participate in internal/external programs that facilitate personal and professional growth.

  • Foster communication within and outside the department and stakeholders

  • Work within a small group cohort to complete an Executive Project and present outcomes to the leadership team.

  • Be available to work the required hybrid schedule at the designated Charlottesville office up to 40-hours per work week. Work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in-office Tuesdays to Thursdays. Some internship placements will require Saturday or on-call hours.

Program Dates:

  • Internship program will run from June 5 - August 9, 2024. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the program.

Housing:

The internship is offered in one location and participants must provide their own housing and transportation to the office.

Program Location:

Interns will be based in the Charlottesville, VA WorldStrides' office.
