Assistant Teacher Extended School Year

The following job duties and responsibilities are essential functions of the NHPS Extended School Year Services as an Assistant Teacher/Paraprofessional position, in addition to any duties as may be assigned by the building lead or program director for the duration of the program:

• Assist teachers to implement the special education services, leading small groups or individual instruction and discussions, and reviewing classwork

• Organize the classroom and teaching materials, monitoring the classroom during lessons, and minimizing distractions and disruptions.

• Supervise students in and out of the classroom.

• Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and social- emotional needs.

• Help teachers and students with transitions, such as lunch in the cafeteria and any summer programming requiring students to leave the classroom.

• Assist the teacher with tracking student attendance, student information forms, arrival and dismissal procedures.

• Ensure the upkeep of educational materials, equipment, and supplies.

• Assist the teacher in documenting student progress.

• Experience with technology to assist teachers and students.

• Collaborative communication and interpersonal skills

• Some diapering may be required

• Requirements: Associate Degree or 60 college credits or receive a qualifying score on the ParaPro Assessment, or existing NHPS Assistant Teacher

• Compensation: $15.69.00 per hour

Preference will be given to those assistant teachers who have experience working within Extended School Year Programs
