Essential Performance Responsibilities
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Spanish I Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching introductory Spanish language courses to middle school students, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment, and promoting cultural awareness. The teacher will develop lesson plans, assess student progress, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience.
Instruction and Curriculum Development:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Spanish I lessons that align with the school's curriculum and state standards.
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
Integrate technology and multimedia resources to enhance language learning.
Develop and implement assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
Classroom Management:
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and respect.
Establish and enforce classroom rules and procedures to maintain a safe and productive learning environment.
Address and manage student behavior in a constructive and respectful manner.
Student Support and Engagement:
Provide individualized support and feedback to students to help them achieve their language learning goals.
Encourage students to develop a love for the Spanish language and an appreciation for Hispanic cultures.
Organize and participate in extracurricular activities, such as language clubs or cultural events, to enhance student engagement.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student learning and development.
Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in language instruction and education.
Contribute to the development and improvement of the school's Spanish language program.
Terms of Employment
Commensurate with working agreement between the Watertown Board of Education and the Watertown Education Association
