HP Workstations ( is a high-performance, high-integrity, and customer focused organization seeking motivated and talented engineers with a passion for technology, quality and creating the most powerful, innovative, and secure Workstation Computers and Solutions.

This position is for an electrical hardware engineer with proven design knowledge to solve complex technical issues. This position is in the Workstation Business Unit and the selected candidate will be part of an R&D HW team responsible for designing and providing technical leadership for Workstation platforms and components.

This role will support electrical motherboard and component design including digital, and embedded power for our current and future generations of our innovative Workstation hardware and solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for and experience in electrical design and embedded power systems along with strong and proven technical leadership and validation skills. Critical to the success of this position is building strong relationships with worldwide colleagues and key partners in Quality, Supply Chain, Marketing, and suppliers. This position is based in Fort Collins, CO but our teams are split between the US and Taipei, TWN.

If you are our Workstation Electrical Design Engineer in Fort Collins, you will have a chance to:

  • Designs engineering solutions for electrical and electronic parts, subsystems, integrated circuitry, and algorithms based on established engineering principles and in accordance with development technology practices and guidelines.

  • Develops and implements parameters and test plans for new and existing designs, including validation of tolerances, form/fit/function, shock and vibration, electromagnetic interference, safety, reliability, thermal generation, and system power measurements

  • Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution

  • Strong contributions to a project team of other electrical hardware engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high-quality solutions for complex products.

  • Represents the electrical hardware team for all phases of larger and more complex development projects.

  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members.

  • Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality

  • Engagement with R&D technologists

  • Work cross-functionally with key partners to deliver product definition meeting feature, quality and user experience goals

  • Routinely exercises independent judgment in developing criteria for achieving objectives Qualifications

Are you a high performer? We are looking for an individual with:

  • 7-10+ years of professional engineering experience

Do you have experiences that will allow you to immediately impact our products? We desire an individual with:

  • Experience designing, developing, and testing computer motherboards or systems based on industry standard technology.

  • Previous experience in HW test and qualification for new products.

  • Experience using signal integrity and protocol analysis equipment to troubleshoot and validate electrical circuits and interfaces.

  • Experience in high-tech electronics manufacturing.

  • Experience performing high-speed signal measurements.

Job Description: Position Description: A qualified applicant for this position would be responsible for transistor level design and development as well as the modification, validation and evaluation of block architecture and/or the entire IC for hard disk drive applications. The position includes working with a design team including other Analog Designers, System Architects, Test Engineers, and Product Engineers to define, architect, and design CMOS Post-Pre-Amp Analog-Front-Ends for ICs utilized in the mass storage industry. Required Skills: * Must be familiar with design concepts and architectures for complex analog signal processing functions including data conversion, continuous time filters, op-amps, pre-amps, comparators, voltage and current references, synthesizers and phase-locked loops and their application to specific products. * Experience in circuit design and layout of CMOS, BiCMOS or Bipolar silicon technologies as well as participation leading to the development of IC projects is required. * Experience with spice simulation and IC design CAD tools. * Hard Disk Drive IC design experience is a plus.
