The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition seeks a workshop instructor.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Present workshops for The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition to K-12 school professionals across Massachusetts according to established instructional materials. Assist with content updates and development of workshops, technical support, reporting requirements and coordination, when assigned, of the resources provided by The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Presents in-person and virtual workshops to K-12 school professionals on an as requested basis according to established procedure set by The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition.

  • Communicates schedule and workshop availability with The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition.

  • Represents The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition in a positive and professional manner.

  • Communicates relevant information and feedback from workshops to The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition.

  • Assists with workshop content development and revisions, as needed.

  • Assists with and present training sessions, technical support and reporting for special initiatives, such as the management and leadership institutes, summit, etc.

  • Works with Massachusetts School Wellness Coaching Program, as needed.

  • Accountable for ensuring that affirmative action, equal opportunity, and diversity are integrally tied to all actions and decisions in areas of responsibility.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Travel using personal vehicle throughout the state of Massachusetts.

  • Ability to obtain and transport workshop materials, including workshop supplies, laptop, speakers, etc.

Requirements:

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree, specializing in nutrition or related degree

  • At least one year experience in workshop instruction with proven professional presentation skills to adult audiences, including effective communication skills, the ability to engage the audience, and present in a clear, concise, positive and professional manner.

  • Knowledge of school nutrition program regulations and current practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered dietitian credential

  • Master's degree, specializing in nutrition education, school nutrition or related degree.

  • School Nutrition Specialist credential

  • Two or more years workshop instructor experience

  • Three or more years school nutrition program experience

  • Bilingual in Spanish

Additional Information:

This is a part-time, non-benefited contractor position. The workshop instructor works on an as-requested basis; typically, one to four workshops per month during the K-12 school year. Hourly rate commensurate with education and experience.
