Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Construction or Construction Management or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations. Certifications/Licenses LEED, AIA, PE, PMP a plus.

Due to the nature of work performed at our facilities, US citizenship is required. Ability to obtain security clearance required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) Facilities and Real Estate (FRE) organization has an immediate opening in Pittsfield, MA for a Senior Project Manager / Team Lead to join the Workplace Solutions (WPS) team. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to manage complicated and complex facilities and workplace improvement projects that support some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

The selected candidate will lead Pittsfield-based team on complex facilities projects associated with our core mission.   • Partner with GDMS Facilities & Real Estate leadership team, as well as NAVFAC, to quantify project funnel and define work load on annual basis; staff Pittsfield Workplace Solutions team accordingly.

  • Lead Pittsfield Workplace Solutions team as player/coach, facilitate apprenticeship development, mentor, and train direct reports.

  • Provide project oversight for all projects performed in Pittsfield region, including, but not limited to:

  • Develop and execute project specific and business driven goals, schedules, budgets, strategy and detailed assumptions with methodology for accomplishing and/or managing goals and objectives.

  • Build and maintain rapport with GDMS Engineering, Manufacturing, and Lines of Business to ensure that the scopes of project and outside business forces affecting the project are fully understood.

  • Act as the primary senior level contact with the internal GDMS business unit throughout the duration of the project.

  • Identify, manage and mitigate areas of concern regarding potential risk to GDMS business.

  • Manage and mentor project management team to

  • Coordinate any necessary due diligence efforts on behalf of the project delivery team, maintaining and delivering all appropriate documentation.

  • Lead visioning, programming, and conceptual design phases to inform Initial Plan of Record (scope, schedule, budget).

  • Coordinate with internal and external resources to develop a detailed project budget based on historical and market data and clearly defined set of budget assumptions.

  • Develop and maintain Integrated Master Schedules and manage the successful execution of projects so that completion falls within intended time frames. Partner with business to identify risks, analyze probability, and agree upon necessary mitigation measures to satisfy program requirements.

  • Prepare various RFPs needed for vendor and contractor services as well as manage the contractor and vendor selection process.

  • Facilitate initiation of all critical project meetings and coordination exercises with internal staff, key stakeholders and external users.

  • Manage project performance against schedules, scheduled milestones and critical path items on multiple projects. Manage vendor and project team performance to ensure compliance with program requirements.

  • Partner with:

  • Real Estate lead to provide due diligence and feasibility insight during the site selection process when required; understand lease obligations.

  • Strategy lead to understand business needs, investment funnel, proposal support, development of business case.

  • Finance lead to assist in ROI modeling and RPI calculations.

  • Facilities Operations manager to ensure ability to commission, run, and maintain all aspects of delivered space

  • BizOps partners (IT, Security, Integration, and Program Performance Management)

  • Internal Communications regarding project communications, including use of several technology apps

  • 3rd Party vendors, including, but not limited to, Owner's Representatives, Construction Managers, Architects, Engineers, General Contractors, Furniture Dealers, Move Managers, Security and IT vendors.

  • As a leader on the Workplace Solutions team:

  • Test, learn, and provide feedback in all process improvement initiatives.

  • Demonstrate thought leadership and continuing education in workplace strategy trends, studies, and initiatives to evolve GDMS workplace through change leadership initiatives, interviews, surveys, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Primary work load and direct reports will be located in Pittsfield, MA, so travel will be limited, but remote work arrangements is not available.

OTHER SKILLS (preferred):

  • Strong working knowledge of architectural drawings, furniture and space planning concepts.

  • Experience with GoCo (government-owned, contractor-operated) facilities and/or NAVFAC a plus.

  • Ability to manage all aspects of construction projects effectively and efficiently including, but not limited to budget, schedule, procurement, and risk mitigation.

  • Fully competent at managing all types/sizes of projects, including, but not limited to hazardous waste remediation/removal, building expansions, occupied renovations, secure (SCIF) construction, agile workplace implementation, manufacturing spaces, and labs.

  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office applications and MS Project.
