JOB SUMMARY

The Workforce Shareholder Development Specialist reports to the Workforce Shareholder Development Manager or its delegate. This position supports Shareholder development and training programs focused on job-readiness and career development opportunities. Support includes, but is not limited to, program coordination, recruitment, and carrying out the Shareholder Development goals and initiatives for Calista Corporation and its Subsidiaries. The incumbent frequently handles confidential and private data, including but not limited to, Shareholder and employee private data, and performs all work in compliance of Calista policies and applicable federal and state laws.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Help promote Shareholder hire and development programs throughout Calista Corporation and its family of companies.

  • Assist in the coordination and success of the Calista Internship Program.

  • Assist Calista Shareholders/Descendants in locating and applying for employment, educational, training, and funding opportunities; assist in creating personal career portfolios.

  • Offer specific career paths and training programs to help employees maintain or improve job skills.

  • Follow up with Calista Shareholders/Descendant inquiries regarding employment, training, and social media questions.

  • Network with Calista Education and Culture Inc. to retain connections with current and past scholarship recipients.

  • Assist in coordinating YK Workforce Development partnership meetings.

  • Identify, develop, and maintain effective shareholder development internal and external partnerships and network with other Shareholder & workforce development program teams.

  • Help create marketing materials such as handouts or visual materials that promote Calista Corporation strategic initiatives in workforce and Shareholder development.

  • Assist with Calista Corporation's workforce development and succession planning and tracking.

  • Present information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures.

  • Provide input to Workforce Shareholder Development Manager and make recommendations for improvements to programs.

  • Attend meetings or seminars to obtain information for use in training & development programs or to inform management of program status.

  • Participate in professional development through appropriate conferences, workshops, classes, or webinars.

  • Represent and promote Calista Corporation at various meetings and career fairs.

  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • This position requires an extremely perceptive person, who can relate to individuals at all levels. As unique situations present themselves, the incumbent must be sensitive to corporate needs, Shareholder and employee goodwill, and the public image.

  • Knowledge on the purpose and benefits of various training and development programs, such as internship, apprenticeship, and mentorship.

  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of project management or planning.

  • Knowledge of the geographic Calista Region, regional agencies, and Statewide educational/training programs.

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes Shareholder needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of Shareholder program satisfaction.

  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, onboarding & offboarding.

  • Skill in resume building, interviewing, networking, and social media outreach.

  • Good working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe; Deltek and Adobe Professional experience a plus.

  • Skill in active listening by giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

  • Skill in monitoring/assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.

  • Skill in reading comprehension and understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.

  • Skill in critical thinking by using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

  • Skill in communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, organize, problem solve and use good judgement with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and create documents such as reports, business correspondence, safety instructions, and other procedure manuals.

  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and creativity.

  • Ability to communicate effectively individually, in a team environment and in public presentations.

  • Must be able to travel out of town for day travel, overnight travel or to villages as needed, in small aircraft, water vessel, commercial jet and other ground transportation.

  • Knowledge of grant application & administration processes.

MINIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited College or University required in business, management, human resources, or similar.

  • Minimum of two years related Human Resources or Business Administration experience, and/or program development; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to speak Yup'ik preferred.

  • Ability to pass a drug and background screening.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
