We are seeking a talented and driven Workforce Development Student Specialist to join our team and support learners and students in achieving their training and development goals.

Position Overview: The Student Specialist in the Workforce Department is responsible for providing comprehensive support services for their chosen training program. This role involves guiding students from program entry through completion, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to achieve their academic and career goals. The ideal candidate will be student-focused, highly organized, and passionate about helping individuals succeed.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Customer Service: Be the initial point of contact for learners, students, and Industry Partners by providing assistance with inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and resolving basic problems to ensure a positive customer experience. This will include answering incoming phone calls, responding to emails, and meeting walk-in customers.

  • Student Advising and Support: Assist students with course selection, registration, and understanding program requirements. Be the liaison to the Work Based Learning Center to provide career advising to students enrolled or interested in enrolling in workforce programs. Work with Industry Managers to develop individualized success plans and monitor student progress.

  • Course Management: Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of training courses. This role involves working closely with the Operations Manager and Industry Manager to help create comprehensive training materials, assisting in the scheduling and coordination of training sessions, and ensuring that all courses align with organizational goals and industry standards. The Student Specialist will help monitor the effectiveness of training programs through feedback and performance metrics, providing support in making data-driven adjustments to optimize learning outcomes. Additionally, this role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to assist with multiple training initiatives simultaneously, and a commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the workforce.

  • Data Entry and Data Management: Be responsible for accurately inputting and updating data into our enrollment management system Lumens. Key responsibilities include transferring information from paper formats into computer files or database systems, registering students, taking student payments, verifying the accuracy of data to ensure its integrity, and maintaining up-to-date records of course materials, user information, and training schedules. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED. Associate degree in business, human resources, education, or related field or equivalent experience (preferred).

  • Proven experience in a customer service role. (preferred)

  • Basic understanding of the role of Workforce Development.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students and Industry Partners.

  • A general understanding and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data security.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a general understanding of database systems.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Willingness to be flexible and lend a hand to all departments of the Workforce Development team.

  • Results-oriented mindset focusing on delivering value and driving student satisfaction and retention.

  • Willingness to occasionally work off hours.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
